I've had this phone for about a month and it's probably the best in the price range. Bluetooth is nice to have, but I haven't been able to try it out yet. The camera is so-so, but the phone is pocket-sized and has a decent screen. Reception for T-Mobile in the Twin Cities area is pretty decent. For the price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better phone.

If you are looking at ATT instead of T-Mobile (people said all the contracts will be void after it is taken over by Cingular) you can get this for free w/o any rebates. It may be more valuable if you do not want fork $200 out of pocket. A friend of mine got Samsung S-105 from Amazon w/ $250 in rebates in December, he's yet to see his money. For TMobile he had to resubmit via fax 2 times, and Amazon rebate you can not even send in until you get a bill, which is typically 40 days after the service is activated. That also means that if you want to get T-Mobile rebate, and not interested in 39.99 plan, except for rebate purposes, you have to keep it for at least 2 months, which essentially reduces the rebate amount by $20-40 depending on your actual desired plan.

Locally in the Hudson Valley if you sign up for T-Mobile at Sams club and BJ's club (you do not need to have a club membership to sign up as they are vendors in the clubs) they have this for $70 with a $100 rebate so it is a net -30! I would have jumped on it but I work at IBM and we are not allowed to have "cameras" on sight and I know of at least one person that has been told they may not bring there cell phone onto the sight!

If that's the case then you should jump on this, since then we'd have gotten the phone for free or less without having to make the 1 year commitment. There's no way they'd ask for the phone back.

I would rather go with A1Wireless or foncentral because you only have to pay $100 up front. Amazon requires $200 out of pocket. Plus, A1Wireless gives you a free car charger and handsfree.

I just purchased 2 Samsung x105-s from intelenetwireless.com: they are offering more rebates than A1 and foncentral. Say, on the T610 you make $75 which is not far from $80. If the rumor about AT&T contracts is true, then there is a Sony T616 (better?) for AT&T - on that one you make $130 AR!

I wonder whether Amazon will soon offer crazy promotions like it did last November.

Those Cheap $1 chargers are known kill phones. I would only use an OEM car charger. OEM chargers are only around $15.

I have had a t610 since december, and IMHO this phone could be better.

Pros:
1. Color screen
2. Bluetooth (Jabra head set works great and the battery in the head set lasts a while)
3. infrared capability
4. the usual downloadable stuff
5. battery lasts a long time
6. voicedial works better thatn other phones I've used
7. accessories are easy to find and are usually cheap ( Cell Phone Shop )

Cons:
1. poor reception in some places(concrete heavy places I get a No Network sign)
2. when you miss a call it doesn't tell you the time of the call
3. after you delete your voicemail messages the symbol that shows you that you have messages won't go away for a couple of days
4. camera sucks big time
5. I was getting spammed by fax messages at first by T-Mobile and then I would get charged for viewing them.
6. built in memory is small
7. screen scratches easily (but you can easily replace the case)

What is good is that you can unlock and flash the firmware of the t610 and that is supposed th really help the reception. The only problem with upgrading is that you have to send your phone away or buy a cable. I bought the cable but my laptop doesn't have a serial port, so I have to buy an adapter.

T616 has GSM 850 and 1900 for NA operations. T610 has only GSM 1900. At this point I'd say the T616 is more attractive if you are not considering to travel overseas.

Also, if you are in the selected markets I believe the promotional special of $39.99/mo mLife local plan is in effect until the 17th of April. For $40 a month you get:

1000 anytime
Unlimited NW& M2M
Nationwide LD

It is a local plan however. That and you can PM the online price on the T616 instore to get it for ~$20 (sales tax on retail only). Two year agreements are not so bad if you have tried out AWS before and are satisfied with the service.
