Sony DVD +- RW Burner Question

I'm looking into buying a DVD Burner this weekend, Since I don't really know which one of the two formats is better I decided to go for the +- RW model, and I was browsing through newegg's product list and I noticed the Sony +- RW drive and the Liteon +-RW drive look the same (the bezels look similar) and both have 8mb buffers, is the Sony just a rebadged liteon drive? I can't see the model numbers from the liteon picture because its angled and far away. I read on here some where that some of the Sony CDRW drives were just rebadged liteon drives at a raised price.

Also, I was going to get an External USB2.0/Firewire case to mount this DVD Burner in and I was wondering if the 1394 Firewire Port on the back of the SB Audigy 2 can be used? Or is that a port used for SB Products only?

[*]Lite-On is using (rebadging) the Sony drive as their dual format burner.
[*]The firewire port on the audigy can be used for non-CL products.

They are the same drive.

What is stupid though is the Lite-On is only like $10 cheaper than the sony right now....
