I just purchased the sony CyberCam DSC-S85 from dell for $414.00 shipped they had a 10% off all digital cameras and I found a code for $35.00 off $350.00. plus free shipping. They also had a $20.00 rebate when you bought a 128 MB memory stick with the camera. so all together the total came to $440.00 thats not to bad of a price when the cheapset price I found for the camera was $400.00 plus $50.00 to ship (which I still can't see how that is legal) plus tax ( because it seems every camera store on the internet is from my home state of NY). Now lets just see how long takes to get it to me.

FYI: this camera was $399 from BestBuy like a few months ago. But I paid $500+ half a year ago.

Although not very hot, still a good price for a GREAT camera.

How's the camara?

I am a "photographer"....not professional kind, but very interested in photography. When I shop for cameras, I look at image quality at first, and I chose this camera. Not to say this is the best on market as I have no way to compare, but this camera is of very high quality. The lens is very nice. I like this camera.

Something you may make you don't like this camera:
1- larger in size ( I don't care as this is way smaller than SLR cameras anyway ).
2- Support only 128 MB MS. (Like 60 photos at max resolution).
3- Response kinda slow ( this is a major draw back if you take moving objects or something like that ).

There is a new $40 off $350 STACKABLE coupon which is valid only for today (03/27/2003), making it cheaper by another 5 bucks 🙂

Same here. I paid $580 for mine from Dell about a year and a half ago.

You can get a lot of photos on 128MB memory sticks, and those are getting dirt cheap these days anyway.

There is also a sony talk forum at

DP Review though they mostly lust over the DSC-707/717.

(edit: currently $499 at circuitcity.com)

Cheers! 😀

The only thing I disliked about this camera is that it only used memory sticks, and not compact flash...
When I had it, over a year ago now, memory sticks were just too damned expensive @ $100+ per 128MB.
I found that the camera I got to replace it, the Canon G2, generally produced better images, however.
