Sony DRU510A problems?

Oyeve

Lifer
I just bought a Sony DRU510A burner to replace my Pioneer A05. It installed fine but I notice under Windows XP device manager it just comes up as "CDROM-Drive", no sony name or such. My other DVD comes up with its proper name as does my external usb cdrw drive. Also, My pioneer DVD burner and my Iomega USB burner would let me burn discs by just putting in a blank and dropping files into it and burn via winxp's built in capabilities. Roxio Platinum 5 (latest patch) doesnt burn to the Sony DRU510A as it did with my Pioneer or my iomega. Anyone know why this may be?

Drivers. either the wrong drivers were installed, or you need to reinstall them would be my guess

I was at sony's website and they mention winxp sp1a. I'll try that. Also, there is a couple of Roxio upgrades. I'll try that, if it dont work its reinstall of XP time. *SIGH*

Just remove it from control panel and let windows recognise it on reboot ,if the updates don't work first.

Found the prob. My gigbyte 8IEXP titan is not PCB 2.0 and doesnt support the p4 3.06. I put my 2.4b back in and reinstalled everything and now everything works and the drive comes up as a sony dvd-r......Guess I need a newer mobo to use my 3.06. Thanks for the help guys.
