i went to amazon to get a sony DVD+-R drive and they say it is either not stocked or discontinued which is wierd cause last week they stocked it link
 
Sony sucks..

They produce the best DVD recorder bar none, and nearly no one (Including Sony) has had any for sale. THere's an occasional pop, (Dell Home, and a few others) but for all intents and purposes, the drive is impossible to find. I've seen them pop up refurbed already - a bad sign, I think they're having issues with it, that they can't resolve.
 
CC always has them in stock when i look.. and i think sony is rebranding it with the latest firmware so they can advertise it as 4x dvd+r write (right?)
 
They are going to re-release the drive soon with the updated firmware...that the main reason they are so hard to find. Ive got one of the original ones and updated the firmware and the drive works like a dream. Keep looking.....Best Buy occasionally gets them in but if you cant find any you will have to wait till the new drive comes out.
