Sony credit card 5000 pt and holiday rewards

For those who has Citibank Sony card, they now has
Holiday rewards
and some product has lower reward pts
like 128MB Memory stick for 7500 pts (all free shipping 🙂)

and the best is, if you do not have enough pts, you can buy it:
let say you have only 5000pts, you pay for the 2500pt = $25.

And how can i have 5000 pts?
If you do not have citibank sony card, sign up one (link on its site) and you get 5000 pt after your first use.

5000 pts give you 10 movie tickets.

Took a look at the catalog. They're offering discounts over the usual "point values', but IMHO, still a bit on a high side. Folks with Sony Cards are better off purchasing products from their fave discount merchant, then filling out the forms to get reimbursed. The process takes much longer (more than 1 CC billing cycle), but it'll save you some $

Just to second what Eric said: Keep in mind that you can really redeem these points just about ANYWHERE, with 100 sony points = $1 off a Sony purchase. Just purchase the item on your Sony card, and fill out the form from their site. I generally receive the credit back by the next billing cycle. It's a pretty good program if you buy a lot of sony stuff.

The 128 MB Memory Stick price is pretty competitive. With free shipping and not having to worry about sending in a rebate form, it's a warm deal.

The memory stick will work well with the Sony Clie I just bought from Staples for $189 + tax.

I have the sony card, found the best way to utilize it is to purchase anything by Sony found here in AT, and you can use your points to pay for it...roughly $1 off for every 100 points...

Note you do not have to buy from the Catalog. We know Dell is not an Authorized Sony Retailer, therefore most rebates are rejected. They honored my points toward the purchase price. Great card to have!

Some items are good deals. 34,000 points ($340) for a Sony DSC-P7. $120 for a Sony MZN505 NetMD.

I ordered the Sony MDR-NC11 Noise Canceling earbuds for 11,000 points. Pretty sweet deal considering the prices I see for this goes for $160. What ticked me off was last year when I got the Sony PS2 for 29,000 points and then a couple of months later Sony lower the PS2 to 19,000 points.

oh smack i have 5700 pts, i can get quite a few dvd's with this haha

k one more question, how do i go about the process for applying points towards a sony purchase?

You have to fill out a redemption form and send it to them with a copy of the receipt. It think it's on the Citibank web site somewhere.

I'm looking at this offer, and you only get 1 point for every dollar you spend?! WTF??? I guess you get 5 for every dollar you spend at the Sony store, but still, by those numbers the Memory Stick would cost you $7500!!! Please tell me I'm reading this deal wrong!

vetteguy you would get it for free if you spend $7500 on the card (its a rewards program), to just flat buy it its 1 cent a point, so $75.

That's what I'm saying...to me, that's not much of a reward.

the holiday rewards end Dec 31. So, not sure if you apply now, pay your first bill (purchase) and get the 5000 pts. Is there enough time till Dec 31 to get in. (if interested, call the CSR)

May be better for the current card holder.

I think you get more reward points if you buy any sony product (have to mail in), like 3 pts for $1 spend or something... but sony product may cost more...

The thing about this (till dec 31) holiday special reward is you can buy things that you do not have enough points as i explain in the example of first post. Normally you are not allow to do it. In the regular plan, you had to have enough pt to redeem product.

yes,.... i am looking at the $120 for a Sony MZN505 NetMD too. But do i need it? may be not. It looks like it does not have a mic input for live recording.
But may as well buy some wireless phone stations too (which is what i need: i redeemed pts for a sony wireless phone that you can hook up additional station to you base, from buy.com). The only place locally sale those are BJ. I think i will call sony to see if BJ is ok to redeem pt. Those stations are discontinued product. I guess due to not very good quality. But my first one work solid.

Thanks! I didn't even know you dont have to redeem the points from their catalog.

For people who are lazy, here's the form for the redeeming points when buying a SONY product somewhere else:
Redeem

Where's the list of the "authorized retailers" ?

that's not much of a reward.
Its better than using your credit card and getting nothing out of it. Granted there maybe some better reward cards out there. But the Sony card is basically free, there is no annual fee. Plus you can't beat the customer service from Citibank, I have had nothing but great luck with them.

On the other hand, I don't buy much Sony stuff anymore. So I am now using my trusty Amazon card 🙂

If you buy from the link here, do they automatically credit your card?

I ordered last week and got my 3 dvd's, but I noticed they charged my card even though I have like 5,500 points...

you need to fill out that form and send it in...theny they will credit your card with the refund. from what other peopl ehave been saying it takes ~1 to 2 billing cycles

Anybody happened to know the catalog number for DSC P7, they took this item off of the Sony reward webpage, and the CSR required me to have this number in order to redeem.. Thanks

I have been using my Sony extensively, 😛 I basically charge every single thing on that card until i realized the Sony Points are not worth it. I'll take the Citibank Dividen Card over this. Basically you get 1% cash back. Although I have over 25000+ sony points as I type 😱. What should i get, What should i get. Yeah the p7 looks good.

I spent my points on a Spiderman DVD, and a 150(?) cd changer. You get points fast when you use it for business expenses. 🙂
