Sony CLIE 300 at staples
Technet America for $288
$50 MIR

Use a $40 off $200 coupon as well.

Total =
$288
-$40
-$50
= $198 + tax + S&H (for pricematch)

Better yet you could take it to the B&M store and save the shipping charges. Assuming of course they have the CLIE in stock.

I was thinking of getting one for myself but I'm going to wait for 3rd generation WAP devices :)

The Clie is nice, especially with falling prices lately. But there just aren't any extra devices for it, so I went with a Palm IIIxe with the palm folding keyboard. I love it. The clie is a really nice unit though.

Why is the Sony Clie so expensive? It is grey scale and 8MB. I think the Handspring Visor Deluxe is a lot better.

Whatzup137: The differences between the CLIE and the Visor Deluxe are pretty important actually:

1) CLIE has flash ROM. It comes with PalmOS 3.5, but you should be able to upgrade it to 4.0, etc. The Visor comes with a Handspring-enhanced version of... 3.0 or 3.1, I'm not sure, and can not be flashed to a higher OS.

2) CLIE has internal rechargeable batteries.

3) The CLIE is smaller. Part of that is because the screen is slightly smaller (same number of pixels, though

I would say that feature-wise, the CLIE is somewhere between the Visor Deluxe and the Vx. For ~200 (which is how much I paid for my *perfect* refurb. unit) I would say it represents a better value than the Visor for the same price, and a far better value than the Vx at whatever it's selling for these days.

I had one a few months ago. Excellent unit. Just ended up not having much of a use for it. It is very attractive with how cheap it can be had for these days.

Only beef I have/had over it is, where the hell are the peripherals for it? The only thing i've seen sony come out with was a different leather case for it. Damn thing needs more than just a memory stick to keep this product alive!

The Good: Palm V/Vx (Small, 8mb, tons of accessories and apps)

The Bad: Handspring Visor (Clunky, not as good of an OS, but has accessories and apps)

The Ugly: Sony Clie (Small but still clunky, looks bad, not as slim or ergonomic as others, little to no apps or accessories)

Keep in mind, these are only my opinions. :) However, a Sony Clie at around $150 or lower would be worth spending the money on if you really want to get a PDA. :D

I saw the CLIE at my local OD for a whopping clearance price of $299. It will probably go lower so for people who are interested in it, it may be worth checking on it.

Yeah, the IIIxe's pretty cool if you like that giant-hunk-of-plastic look and feel :) I'm sorry, it's just with all this bagging on the CLIE (yeah, I mean you Junthin) I had to say something.

First, the look and feel are great. Sure, it would have been nice if Sony had used metal rather than silver plastic, but oh well. At least the sides are smooth, unlike the Vx. I don't know what Junthin means by poor ergonomics; it is pretty much designed for right-handers (stylus on right, jog dial on left), but the jog dial is a pretty nice addition once you download some freeware for it (it's great for reading Anandtech on Avantgo). I also find the slightly narrower design more comfortable to hold. Anyway, how can you call it ugly compared to the IIIxe and the the m10x series. Oy!

I do have to spend a second to say how cool the case is. It seems kind of awkward at first (it flops down and hands below the CLIE), but you just curl the from cover back around and attach the velcro latch upside down, and the case makes a perfect stand. Pretty nifty (though obviously hard to describe)

Ok, that's enought Sony propaganda for one day. For those of you considering this deal but haven't yet seen a CLIE, I'd suggest you find one in a B&M store somewhere and play with it. I know I wasn't truly impressed with it until I picked it up.

I've used both, and without a doubt the Clie is the better looking of the 2, and it FEELS a lot better. The IIIxe just feels cheap and plasticky, like it's gonna fall apart any second

Sony CLIE has 8MB built in... and expansion slot for Sony Memory stick. CLIE also come with 8MB stick for total of 16MB...
