Staples has it for $119.98 - $20 coupon - $30 MR = $69.98

Compare to TEAC, PLEXTOR, and LITEON, Sony is a little bit slower in writing, but quite fast in reading in DAE. Don't know if this is good or not, but certainly better than the crappy Acer from Cendyne. Also be aware that Sony makes two different 24x CDRW. One model has a memory stick slot for easier copying, and one doesn't. The one at Staples doesn't have the memory slot.

Side question, can you pricematch if you are planning to use a coupon from staples?

Nice deal! Good job Abstrak. Now is someone going to post a link to the reviews on this drive so I don't have to, I have midterms 2morrow. A good comparison of this drive to the Lite-on drive would also be appreciated.

I just found this drive on Dell.com here

hope that link works. but if not, you can find this for $114.95 under peripherals and small business.

Pricematch that and save another 5+ bucks and free shipping at dell too.

The coupon is on many sites out there. Even on the one in my signature (right column of home page)

(I don't even have an affiliate link to staples.com on my site, just a regular one)

this drive is awesome!

i got this drive from staples for $75 AR as an upgrade from my 16x yamaha.
this thing is super fast.
i've used all the 100 24x CD-Rs and just starting on the new pack i got from BB and so far i have not produced any coasters.
this thing is a workhorse in my machine. i've burned mp3's, audio (.cda), game/app iso's and all the different kinds of game rips. burning all these required me to use a lot of burning programs. i've used clone cd, cdrwin, nero, fireburner, nti cd maker, disc juggler, easy cd creator and some undergorund burning programs on this Sony drive and they all worked perfectly 🙂

i think there's a review in pcworld or pcmag or something? that shows this drive is the fastest compared to liteon, cendyne, etc, etc.
well, i don't blame you if you're going for just the "name" Plextor/Liteon 😀 but i'm definitely not giving you a bull*

Gonna buy this drive too. Finally an upgrade to my ancient 8x HP burner (which never failed).

I was able to pricematch here at my local staples and after rebate the drive will be 55+tax. They can't use the "Our price is lower after rebate" excuse in this case because this price is already lower then thier after rebate price. The reason I pm'ed this vendor is because I did not see anything that refers to the drive as an OEM on the page. YMMV

Thanks so much dongky for your response 🙂 🙂

Btw, are you able to do other things w/ your computer while it's burning? Does it 'take over' your entire PC (like the crappy Pacific Digital I had to return last week) and not allow you to easily use other programs? (Word, Web browsing etc)

hanybanoub, i use Nero BurningROM more often and while i am burning, i can play Yahoo Pool + downloading stuff using Flash FXP ftp client program.
the machine that does this is an Slot-type Athlon 600MHz, 768MB RAM, 30GB UDMA66 HD, WinXP

i almost got this from staples but read that some ppl are having problem with XP and this burner.. so i went with other one 24x. for $50.

its working great. everything burs in 4 mins flat.
