Sony Bravia (40" and 46")

So, i was at a CC in Indy and they have this 46 Bravia hooked up and the picture was 1080p and all, but it looked AMAZING. I ask the rep why it is so much clearer than that of the other 1080p's and he replies with details about this hard drive HD streamer they have connected. He said it is proprietary to Sony and cannot be purchased at this time...ALTHOUGH, this picture was amazing. My girlfriend was with me and her comment was "it looks like i am looking out the window". She is not a big TV person, but she definitely noticed the difference. Anyways, do any of you guys know what this is or have you seen it? How soon will something like this be available? I am guessing it is some kind of blu ray copy and then on a hard drive for some reason, but i don't know why.
