Sony just announced the release of "the next evolutionary step" to Playstation Home, a MMO called Sodium One. This vehicle combat title is available by logging into Playstation Home and going to the Sodium One space and interacting with the Sodium One AI Android, VICKIE.

The main draw to Sodium One is the 50 level Salt Shooter game where players can collect items to level up and outfit their hovertanks with better equipment and weaponry. Additional games such as Desert Crunch and Scorpion Stomp are also available and also have their own rewards and collectible items.

Sodium One promises "explosive" gameplay combined with quests and adventures built on top of the Playstation Home community to offer persistent rewards and achievements. Like Playstation Home, the game is free and Sony promises to continuously expand the game over time to include new games, community events, and virtual items.

Home is one of the most depressing things I've ever experienced. There are people who literally spend all day there standing around, not even playing a game. I have never read anything good about it, so why does Sony continue to develop it?

Yea, I think I'll pass.

I tried Home twice. The first time when it was new. I sat around thinking: "WTF is the point?"

So a few months ago, I was bored and decided I'll try it again. I thought that it might be different, but I just had the same thought. I can safely say that Playstation Home will not be installed again on my system.

Well, I think that is the point of Sodium One...to get people to play. If they can add something like a Free Realms experience to Home that would be better I think. Whether or not Sodium One is capable of that....

You guys forget that this stuff is popular. You guys didn't like it but millions of other do. The asian countries love this stuff and things that are popular there move on over here and get popular here.

Seems interesting, but I don't have my hopes set too high.

I'll give it a try, but if it's like the rest of Home, I won't be playing it very long.

well since you quoted 2 guyes who were talking specifically about HOME, and referred to it as "this stuff", one would assume you were talking about HOME...

I'm talking about the type of stuff like Home. There are many popular Home type "games" out there. Especially in Asia.

Sony needs to release Free Realms on the PS3. Whatever its flaws, at least FR is fun for a while!
