Buy.com has under their manuf. rebate section
a Sony 8x burner with 6 free cdrw's for 158.95
but u can pick it without the free discs for
148.95

Use the soon to be cancelled 30 off 150 for returners
and then add a 30 buck manuf. rebate on top of that
and free shipping to boot from buy.com

and that makes an 8x burner 88.95

Cheapest good name burner I've seen!

I thought this one was NOT a retail box and therefore, not eligible for the rebate? Am I mistaken?

I'm confused. how can you apply 30 off 150 if you'll get this for 148.95 (w/o discs)?

I'm curious too whether this burner is eligible for the rebate, 'cus it looks like an OEM version?

I think it is rebate eligible. This is the same unit that
was the Deal-o-the-Day a few weeks back for $138.95. I bought
it back then. This deal is a bit sweeter, as there is a
30 off/150 coupon. Best I could do back then was a 15off/150
coupon. Added a book(Christmas present for the wife) to get
it up over $150. Bestsellers are a good deal at BUY.COM,
particularly when you get the free shipping.

The unit was retail-packaged w/ the sound cable, manual, 1
CDR etc. I sent the rebate in last week.

The rebate form specifies the Model number of this unit,
does not specify exclusion of OEM's although
that goes without saying.

However.....buy.com says the only difference between these
two units is one was packaged before the free CDR's were
bundled.

The photo on their website even depicts the retail packaging, not the raw drive.

They are both retail packages, just one has 10 cdrws for 10 bucks
which (1) pushes it over the 150 and (2) sets your mind to ease about retail pkging.

I listed the other one because it does come out to 88.95 insted of 99.95 although
you'd hafta add some bic pens or sumthin to make it so.

It is clone cd compatible, as it's basically an hp 9100

Any way u stack it, it's a helluva deal for an 8x burner.

you'd have a really hard time even findin a used one for this kinda muney.

thanks

If it's not the same price,
then it's not the same deal.

3 instances in 30 days at 99 or so
but not before have people been able to
order the drive without the 10 free disks
at 10 bucks less.

If they had then we would have seen the
deal in the past at 89 bucks and not 99 bucks.

I c whut u mean tho.
