Sony has introduced CoCoon CSV-EX11, a 500GB hard disk Digital Video Recorder in Japan. At lowest quality the DVR can record up to 342 hours (or two weeks) of video non-stop. The recording time reaches 114 hours even at the highest quality mode.

As much as Sony will charge (1250 Euros), ya could build 2 HTPC's with the same capacity! ;)

Last week there were rumors that this device would include PS2 functionality though I see no such mention in the cdrinfo.com link (the other link is dead). I was really hoping Sony would see the light and do this. It's probably safe to say that the next generation XBox will integrate a PVR into the package.

Looks like there wont be a montly charge tho... even if its $900 that easily makes up for the fact tivo is $299 extra for a life time fee, plus the sony does a TON more recording. Reason I think there won't be a montly fee is the logo right on the front.... Guide +... which doesnt cost a darn thing.

The public don't know hot to build a HTPC let alone set one up with DVR abilities and such!

They are making it easy to record and such.
