Pretty nice deal on the Sony HS510 (non-xbr) 34" widescreen. Local BB has it for $1699. Everywhere else is 1899-1999. Don't know if it is a price error, BB website says 1899. Lowest I seen was $1849 during week after thanksgiving.

I have this set, very nice for the price if you don't like projections.

I'm holding out till when Intel jumps in on the LCD TV market later this year. That does sound like a nice price, but when it is being projected that a 40-50 inch will cost less then that by November, I can hold off 10 months.

I doubt we'll see those low prices by 10 months time. Intel will definitely lower prices, but from what i've been reading, those prices won't materialize until mid to late 2006. The only way we'll see low prices in time for christmas 2005 is if Intel starts pumping those chips out NOW.

Isnt this kinda steep? I mean I think I saw 30" widescreen hdtv for about a grand (SAmsung) and the 46" hdtv rear projections around $1500.

Remember this is a tube TV which is going to give better picture quality than any LCD/Plasma/RPTV on the market, it's also one of the largest tube tv's available.

It's also a Sony which commands more $$$ even if it may not be deserving of it. Nice find though, I'll pass it on to my dad who is a hardcore sony tube guy.

Umm...he is right. CRT/Tube still has the best colors/contrast compared to any other technology. If you are interested in only sharpness and not color so much, LCD and Plasma are better. Rear projection is probably a good compromise between colors/contrast/sharpness.

It would be nice if Best Buy was to send out some of those 10% off coupons soon. It would definately make this deal even more attractive. :)

I was just at CC alittle bit ago, and was interested in this Tv so always check the price when I go....Today it was 1649.99, pretty sure it was 1999.99 last time went. Not sure if this was local or not.
