You have to send in the UPC code which only comes on the retail box.
BTW, I have the 24X Lite-0n and it burned a 650MB CD-R in a little over 3 mins.

<< Newegg has the drive for 90bucks 7 bucks for shipping

drive here

total 97 bucks - 30mir from sony= 67

mir form
>>

You guys can go with that approach which I don't think it will work because Newegg's is an OEM. The way I figured out that might work is.

Buy from Staples 119.98
use $20 off $100 purchase (99.98). free shipping
$30 MFR MIR (69.98). pay tax and your set!

And if you want to get it even cheaper, I'm unclear whether this will work, but buy all of that with your Amex Blue card, and then PM it to this place
House of Computers , a place I found on Pricewatch. They don't mention whether or not it is OEM, so print it out and send it to Amex, who knows, maybe it'll work? The price on that website is $86, but pricematch says $85? So if all goes as planned, you're lookin at $55+tax!

I've already ordered one from Staples, trying to coax someone into ordering another for me (MIR says 1 per person/family/address).

Good Luck!

You can't PM an OEM product with a retail product... That's like apples and oranges
