just to let everyone know, I have Sony GPD-F400 (19" model) and in my opinion, as well as everyone's else who seen this monitor, F400 is top notch monitor and I can proudly say is the best 19" monitor I have ever seen. Colors and other graphics are incredible on perfectly flat screen. This monitor is something you have to see to believe.

don't waste your time guys...and I'm not trying to hog this thing for myself either(didn't order any and never will)

I just think, after talking to the service rep and all, this will not be worth the risk, and potential hassel....IMHO

Why not just do this?

1.) Place an order for (1) CPD-G500 @ buy.com for $1,068.95

2.) Right .here says that you can pricematch from any internet retailer

3.) buy dot com has free shipping too

4.) Only problem that I could see with this is that the internet retailer be out of stock of them, that and the fact that they are on backorder from buy dot com also.

5.) Is buy dot com a authorized Sony reseller?

JoeDaddy - Now that's actually tempting ... I might try that.

$1,068.95 SONY monitor at Buy.com BACKORDERED
-$30 off $150 (bummer the $50 off $500 would have worked nicely)
-3% eBates
-0.00 No Oregon sales tax
+$45.45 shipping
--------------------------
$1,053.23
-$369.95 Buy.com price match difference
--------------------------
$683.28 delivered

I forgot will Buy.com allow you to use a coupon then later you can price match? I know that Staples will (depending on the CSR) but for some reason I don't think Buy.com allows a coupon and PM on the same order.

This deal probably wouldn't fly since the monitor is currently on back order at Buy.com and since it weighs more than 20 lbs does not qualify for free shipping.

I bought a GMD-F500 from Onvia. Their webpage kept saying out of stock and still is, so I emailed them telling them I wanted to buy one. They emailed me back saying they will have it for me in a few days. It showed up and I was happy. Not once did the item ever come back in stock.

I pretty sure OnVia will get one for you if tell them you want it.

Opps.. Clarification.
I emailed them telling them that I wanted the monitor and noticed it was out of stock for 3 weeks. Explained to them I wanted the free shipping (when they were just trying it out) and it was about to expire. Then emailed me back assuring me they will get some in a few days and go a head and place the order.

I would go ahead and email them first, just so you have a record that they intend to get you one within X number of days.

I don't know why you guys have not figured this out yet...but Dell sell's overstock 21inch monitors in its reburished sytems->accessories->monitors section. They are new P1110's, and have simply been overstocked. They won't tell you this until you give them a call. I personnally called them 3 times to ensure that these were new monitors. Let me tell you, they are (brand spanking new), and it's the most beutiful flat screen trintron 21inch I've ever laid my eyes on. It was simply the best decision/purchase I've made in the last 3 years. It is a Sony GPD 500 montior with a Dell decal...and they sell for how much???

$649 + $30 shipping.

You better believe it boys and girls. And who have we come to trust most...DELL. You can't go wrong with Dell. If something goes wrong, they replace it immediately. NO questions asked! Comes with 1 year Dell warranty, but can be upgraded to 3 year for a small fee. I didnt even bother with extended warranty because the FD Trinitrons never die. Hope I helped out some of you. Give me a personal email or p message if you have any questions. I've been so thrilled with this monitor!!!

No...bought it seperately. Jes..if I bought it with a system, I would not even have bothered posting. You also must know a lot of unlucky people if there trinitrons die on them immaturely. It's a great deal. Look into it and give them a call if you are interested.

I called dell regarding the p1110 monitor and they gave me specs that were not quite the same as the sony g500. I also asked if it was refurbished and they said yes. Regarding the warranty they told me that they dont have an extended warranty with refurb monitors. I really dont want to buy one and have it die in 12 months and 1 day. Who did u speak to? Do you have an extension? I spoke to Kerry x46802
649 + 50 ship

I also asked if I needed to purchase a system with this purchase and Kerry told me no. I could purchase just the refurb monitor. They are definately screwy at dell because they apparently tell different ppl different things.. (kinda like every other company out there)
I'm still think about puchasing... dunno

I'm sorry for the response you guys have received from Dell and the anticipation I caused. I am assuming that they have changed their marketing mentality in the last 3 weeks. All I can say is that 4 co-workers, 2 friends, as well as myself have bought the 21inch Dell 1110 monitor through refurb dept in the last month. We were told they were overstock and brand new with 1 year warranty. Several of my co-workers bought an extended warranty for 3 years, but I do not know the details of their arrangements. None of us bought or own Dell systems. We received what we were promised...very sharp monitors for very good price.
I also assume that the recent influx of buyers who wanted these monitors gave Dell refurb dept reason to sell only to those with or buying Dell systems. They arrived in brand new Dell box for $649+$30 using 2 day shipping. No signs of use or handling were visible.
Regarding specs, the Sony G500 and Dell P1110 are virtually identical. If you wish to obtain a resolution of 1880x1440 with a Sony at a mediocre refresh rate, that is the only advantage you will get for paying hundreds of dollars more. I think most will do fine at a refresh rate of 100hz at 1600x1200 res. I've worked with both monitors, and both have a phenomenal picture quality. I can only praise good things about the P1110. I would keep calling refurb dept. Perhaps you contacted an inexperienced representative. Good luck guys!

Me and my friend delt with Dell refurbished monitors before. Scarey since when we got the box we couldn't tell if the box was new or not by first looks. It was until me and my friend closely compared the box of a refurb and a new one that we noticed a couple of extra and missing stickers on it. Turns out the monitors are repaired (sometimes..hehe) and REPACKAGED by the manufacturer and looks almost just like the new box. Beware.

DL...haha...show me these references buddy! Are you confusing the G500 and F500? There are differences between G500 and P1110, but very minimal. You will NOT be able to tell the difference visually. When comparing prices, it's a no brainer. Have you ever sat in front of an FD Trin 21inch at a resolution above 1600x1200 for more than 15 minutes? It's not too easy on the eyes by any means. I do independent research at the Wadsworth Institute in NY while juggling college, and we have all three versions of Sony as well as the Dell P1110 and P990. F500 is superior to all, with a grille app of .22 and is capable of hitting resolutions of 2048/1880. But such a high res is only used for reading large ir specs/hspc progs/dna res etc. It would work well with architectural progs such as Autocad. You don't want to be browsing or gaming at this res. Everything is way too small. I also doubt you have $1500 to spend. The G500 is next in line, but when using a res at 1880x1440, text/graphs are not highly defined. We like to keep it at 1600x1200 at 100mhz. The P1110 looks identical to G500 at this resolution and below, if not slightly better. The coating used on the P1110 provides a clearer picture when in a room using fluorescent/bright light than the G500. G500 seems to get washed out and reflects more background objects.
Stop critizing my posts. All I wanted to say was that Dell offered a great deal to me and a dozen other acquaintances, and we're all thrilled. Thought I could pass the word onto you guys! Now you made me back myself up once again, doubting my intergrity. There are quite a few people on these forums that are quite touchy. Take it easy! I may have presented myself unorganized and sloppy, but certainly will not have my integrity questioned.
