Some of those comments @ AudioReview.Com are mine. I've had this sub for nearly a month. It rocks!! I replaced a 10" KLH sub that died on my after one month. The Sony is well constructed compared to the KLH. The Sony doesn't get as warm as the KLH. The Sony rocks my house ... well, the KLH did too - until it died. About the only negative thing that I can say about the Sony is that at very low volumes, there is a bit of a hum that is produced. I didn't initially notice this issue until I put the sub under my wooden desk. I guess because there is nothing to absorb the hum, it is more pronounced where I have it placed.
For the question about inputs: The Sony has high-level inputs which can receive the signal from your speaker outputs and then you can connect your speakers to the other connectors on the back of the sub. There is also one (1) RCA input jack and one (1) RCA output jack. The purpose of the output jack for connecting more of these subs in a series - 4 subs out to do the job - just kidding! One is plenty, but the output jack feature is a nice option. This sub only comes with about 16 feet of regular 22 guage speaker wire. Don't mess with this stuff. I made my own cable with some Cat-5 cable and RCA ends that I soldered on. I need 50 feet because of where I have mine positioned, but I don't want to pay more for the cable than I paid for the sub.
I paid $199 + tax from Sears, but sears has a 60-day return policy. I was going to bring in a vendors add from the 'Net where the price was $150 for this sub, but now I think I'll just return it and go through 800.Com - for a much sweeter deal.
For $129, you can't go wrong on this sub. It's not a bad deal @ $199, but $129 is schweet!
