Looking at www.audioreview.com shows some very excellent reviews. Much better than the JBL piece of junk that I bought from mercata (thankfully they took it back when the amp died like most do). I placed my order for $132.82!

I'm haven't looked at a lot of subs, but what kind of connection does this sub use? I have a reciever that has an outlet labeled sub, that has a one RCA? outlet. Would I be able to plug this SOny sub into that?

And does this sub come with cables?

P.S What are sony card points?

Some of those comments @ AudioReview.Com are mine. I've had this sub for nearly a month. It rocks!! I replaced a 10" KLH sub that died on my after one month. The Sony is well constructed compared to the KLH. The Sony doesn't get as warm as the KLH. The Sony rocks my house ... well, the KLH did too - until it died. About the only negative thing that I can say about the Sony is that at very low volumes, there is a bit of a hum that is produced. I didn't initially notice this issue until I put the sub under my wooden desk. I guess because there is nothing to absorb the hum, it is more pronounced where I have it placed.

For the question about inputs: The Sony has high-level inputs which can receive the signal from your speaker outputs and then you can connect your speakers to the other connectors on the back of the sub. There is also one (1) RCA input jack and one (1) RCA output jack. The purpose of the output jack for connecting more of these subs in a series - 4 subs out to do the job - just kidding! One is plenty, but the output jack feature is a nice option. This sub only comes with about 16 feet of regular 22 guage speaker wire. Don't mess with this stuff. I made my own cable with some Cat-5 cable and RCA ends that I soldered on. I need 50 feet because of where I have mine positioned, but I don't want to pay more for the cable than I paid for the sub.

I paid $199 + tax from Sears, but sears has a 60-day return policy. I was going to bring in a vendors add from the 'Net where the price was $150 for this sub, but now I think I'll just return it and go through 800.Com - for a much sweeter deal.

For $129, you can't go wrong on this sub. It's not a bad deal @ $199, but $129 is schweet!

Heifetz, there is a 10% off potential if you sign up for a sonycard. Also, you accrue points with this card 1 point for every $ spent...100 points equals 1 buck.

<< Damn, deal dead. Out of stock >>

Damn, is right. Take it from me, folks - if you see anything interesting at 800.Com, buy it right away. I was going to order this item (and return my other one to Sears) - now it's out of stock - just like the 32" Wega. If you snooze, you lose. I'm sick of snoozing.

Anyone see other subs that are a good deal? There are some other subs in the same price range. Acoustic Research S108PS 8" for $199, Audiosource 10" Powered Subwoofer SW200 for $179, Kenwood 8" Powered Subwoofer SW303 for $179. Granted, these are not the fabulous 12" sony. The Acoustic Research has some good reviews though on Audioreview.com.

It looks like some of the better subs - 12" w/120 - 150 watt amps are out of stock. I saw the AudioSource 10" w/100 watt amp and thought it might be a little underpowered. The AudioSource subs do have some good reviews. I hit U-bid about 45 minutes ago where this is an auction for the AudioSource SW-15 (15" sub w/200 watt amp) which had a current bid price of $114. Shipping is about $50 when going with FedEx ground/home shipping.

I'm pretty confident that I'll win - that is if U-bid doesn't mess it up.

While some of these 800.Com deals are pretty attractive, I feel that the pickings are getting a little slim. I've hit the 800.Com site about 10 times over the past few days checking out some potential purchases. Slowly but surely, their stock is being depleted and items are disappearing from their selection.

But you have to remember, 800.com has FREE Shipping! So you don't have to pay the $50 shipping that other places charges.

The shipping is not free on all items @ 800.Com. For example, the sub-woofers have shipping charges of approximately $2.90. This is a very small shipping charge on such a large item. Then again, 800.Com's normal price of $199 on the Sony sub-woofer isn't a bargain unless there are some intives because almost any place will sell it to you for that price.

The 15" AudioSource that I purchased for $165 (even though the shipping amounts to $50 of the $165 prices) is still $60 less than Amazon.Com sells it for even though Amazon.Com is also giving away free shipping.

Brotherman, Do you recall what 800.Com's price was on the SW-15 sub?

<< jbl is the best for quality and power and price in my opinion >>

Well, opinions are like ... you get the picture. I thought that I wanted a JBL sub, but apparently they have some problems with humming like others - including the Sony. Also, the JBLs that I've read about don't have the 'auto' feature for turning the sub on / off.

I am impressed with the JBL quality and sound, but wish that they would resolve the two mentioned issues.

Sorry man, but I'd venture to say in this case an opinion can be wrong, and yours is. Go to audio review and look at the psw-d112. Its an utter piece of crap and should be ashamed to carry the jbl name! Seriously the failure rate has to be like 90%, the guy at mercata sighed when I told him what I had and they fully refunded my money and paid my shipping costs since they get so many of them returned. It was an awesome sounding sub, especially for the price, I wont kid you about that.....the 3 month life span somewhat sucked though.

I don't know who told you JL are the best--maybe car audio??? I am really into home audio and the way to go is Velodyne Subwoofers (sold at Circuit City). There are better brands but they are way to expensive. Expect to spend between 350-550 for a nice Velodyne. If you are looking for regular speakers such as towers, center, or rear speakers, my favorite is Paradigm. You will love them. My preference on receivers is Denon.

We should post some hot deals on places to get Paradigms and Velodynes on the net. I know some guy off of e&%& that sells them cheap but I can't say he is reliable. I have always been curious where to buy Paradigm and Velodyne cheap. Thanks...
