Does anyone have any opinions on this? My friend is in the market for a HTITB in this price range.

Thanks...

not enough digital ins on the reciever... this will be a problem expecially if you want to hook up a dvd player, cable box, xbox 360 in order to take advantage of dolby digital or dts...

Be sure to listen to it before you decide. I was always a big fan of Sony but I'm really surprised at the products they've been turning out lately.

I listened to this one at a Circuit City and then listened to an Onkyo for about the same price. There was NO comparison as the Sony was muddy, thumping, and generally just second grade sound. I couldn't tune the controls to get any kind of sound that I thought was decent.

The Onkyo was clear, clean, and crisp.

Sorry for the threadcrap but just answering your question.

Agreed. I jumped on the deal for the Onkyo S780 7.1 HTIB setup for $399 at Fry's. These speakers are amazing. Receiver even has component video switching. And Onkyo is a very very good japanese brand.
