I live in San Diego so Miramar Base isn't too far away from my house and I constantly hear either the roar of jet engines or helicopters around. Quite annoying...

I second the idea of taking them down with small arms fire.... Remember that simpsons where willy fires a shotgun into the air, and the pilots lock onto him?

Living on or near air bases all of my life, I find it odd to not hear jet engines at least once a day...

You think thats bad, when I lived in Hi in Scolfields Barracks our apt was
about half mile from the Arty range and they loved letting loose with those 155mm.

Hanscom does not even have runways, hence the total lack of planes. It is a great location but a nasty little base IMO.
