write lyrics first. but realize that pretty much every good song has already been written. if you want your music to be popular throw originality out the door. where should the bridge go? listen to the radio, it comes before the last chorus.

Yeah, i use Audition as well. I have a sh!tty PC mic that I use, too, but Audition's frequency domain editor makes it sound pretty damn good (the mom and g/f can't tell the difference). If only I had the funds for some semi-decent recording equipment. :(

The only solution is to start boozing it up and doing drugs and livin' life in the fast lane. Makes for good hard rocking songs. :D

That's nice stuff. I always figured that the more prestine equipment I buy, the more picky/frustrated I'll get trying to get it to sound 'perfect'. Hence, I'm never satisfied, but I'll get the setup some day and be totally pissed! :D

I write usually just sit down with a guitar, and start playing around with chords and melody until i get something i like, then I fine tune the melody, and get an idea of what kind of phrasing and constanants/vowels i want to use, then write lyrics accoridngly with whatever subject comes to mind with the melody.
