You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye, and easy smile.
You have to be trusted, by the people that you lie to,
so that when they turn thier backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, harder and harder as you get older
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad, old man
All alone and dying of cancer...

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, alone.
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm, a little confused.
Sometimes it seems to me that I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?

Deaf dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending.
That everyone's expendable and no one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner.
And everything's done under the sun.
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personell
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a seat in the stand
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone

the song was called "you gotta be crazy" when they played it live here is the original version:

You gotta be crazy, you gotta be mean
You gotta keep your kids and your car clean
You gotta keep climbing, you gotta keep fit
You gotta keep smiling, you gotta eat sh!t

You gotta be small to be a big shot
You gotta eat meat to stay at the top
You gotta be trusted, gotta tell lies
You gotta be able to narrow your eyes

You gotta beleive they've gotta beleive you
You gotta appear easy to see through
Gotta be sure you look good on the TV
Gotta resemble a human being

You gotta keep one eye over your shoulder
Gonna get harder as you get older
Gotta fly south and hide in the sand
Gotta forget that you're gonna get cancer

And when you loose control
You'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows
The bad blood slows and turns to stone

And it's too late to loose the weight
You used to need to throw around
So have a good drown
As you go down
Alone
Dragged down by the stone

Gotta be sure, you gotta be quick
Gotta divide the tame from the sick
Gotta keep some of us docile and fit
You gotta keep everyone burying this shit

You gotta get you started early
Processed by the time you're thirty
Work like fvck 'till you're sixty five
And then your time's your own until you die

I gotta admit to a lot of confusion
Pain in the head is the child of collusion
Gotta resist the creeping malaise
You gotta beleive in the way you get out of the maze

But you, you just keep on pretending
You can tell a sucker from a friend
But you still raise the knife to
Stranger, lover, friend and foe alike

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was sent out to play on his own
Who was raised on a diet of shame
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with bridle and bit
Who was given a seat in the stand
Who was forcing his way to the rails
Who was offered a place on the board
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone

"Short-Short man" by 20 Fingers with Sandra Gillette.

Does this mean that size matters to women?

"Wait And Bleed" by Slipknot has a lot of meaning to me, I can relate to it like no other song in the world.

Many songs from Pink Floyd, a few from Dave Matthews...
----
"Do you realize?" by the Flaming Lips

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun don'-go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
----
"Birdhouse In Your Soul" by TMBG

There's a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels its always near
----
"What A Good Boyl" by Barenaked Ladies.

When I was born, they looked at me and said,
"What a good boy, what a smart boy, what a strong boy."
And when you were born, they looked at you and said,
"What a good girl, what a what a smart girl, what a pretty girl."

We've got these chains that hang around our necks
people want to strangle us with them before we take our first breath.
Afraid of change, afraid of staying the same,
when temptation calls, we just look away.

Chorus
This name is the hairshirt I wear
and this hairshirt is woven from your brown hair.
This song is the cross that I bear,
bear it with me, bear with me, bear with me, be with me tonight,
I know that it isn't right, but be with me tonight.

I go to school, I write exams,
if I pass, if I fail, if I drop out,
does anyone give a damn?
And if they do, they'll soon forget 'cause it won't take much for me
to show my life ain't over yet.
I wake up scared, I wake up strange.
I wake up wondering if anything in my life is ever going to change.
I wake up scared, I wake up strange
and everything around me stays the same.

Just about anything by Pink Floyd really. Here is one:

Two Suns in the Sunset

in my rear view mirror the sun is going down
sinking behind ridges in the road
and i think of all the good things
that we have left undone
and i suffer premonitions

comfirm suspicions
pf the holocaust to come

the wire that holds the cork
that keeps the anger in
gives way
and suddenly it's day again
the sun is in the east
even though the day is done
two suns in the sunset
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
could it be the human race is run

like the moment when the brakes lock
and you slide toward the big truck
you stretch the frozen moments with your fear
and you'll never hear their voices
and you'll never see their faces
you have no recourse to the law anymore

and as the windshield melts
my tears evaporate
leaving only charcoal to defend
finally i understand
the feelings of the few
ashes and diamonds
foe and friend
we were all equal in the end

Wish you were Here (Pink Floyd as well)

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Moody Blues - Knights in White Satin is also good

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh, how I love you

Gazing at people, some hand in hand
Just what I'm going through they can't understand
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end
And I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

'Cause I love you, yes I love you
Oh, how I love you, oh, how I love you

(spoken)
Breathe deep in the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy's spent Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her sun
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
And we decide which is right
And which is an illusion?

Jackson Browne - The Pretender

I?m going to rent myself a house
In the shade of the freeway
I?m going to pack my lunch in the morning
And go to work each day
And when the evening rolls around
I?ll go on home and lay my body down
And when the morning light comes streaming in
I?ll get up and do it again
Amen
Say it again
Amen

I want to know what became of the changes
We waited for love to bring
Were they only the fitful dreams
Of some greater awakening
I?ve been aware of the time going by
They say in the end it?s the wink of an eye
And when the morning light comes streaming in
You?ll get up and do it again
Amen

Caught between the longing for love
And the struggle for the legal tender
Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring
And the junk man pounds his fender
Where the veterans dream of the fight
Fast asleep at the traffic light
And the children solemnly wait
For the ice cream vendor
Out into the cool of the evening
Strolls the pretender
He knows that all his hopes and dreams
Begin and end there

Ah the laughter of the lovers
As they run through the night
Leaving nothing for the others
But to choose off and fight
And tear at the world with all their might
While the ships bearing their dreams
Sail out of sight

I?m going to find myself a girl
Who can show me what laughter means
And we?ll fill in the missing colors
In each other?s paint-by-number dreams
And then we?ll put out dark glasses on
And we?ll make love until our strength is gone
And when the morning light comes streaming in
We?ll get up and do it again
Get it up again

I?m going to be a happy idiot
And struggle for the legal tender
Where the ads take aim and lay their claim
To the heart and the soul of the spender
And believe in whatever may lie
In those things that money can buy
Thought true love could have been a contender
Are you there?
Say a prayer for the pretender
Who started out so young and strong
Only to surrender

R.E.M. - Nightswimming. The video is a real trip too

edit: obligatory lyrics-
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
turned around backwards so the windshield shows.
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse.
Still, it's so much clearer.
I forgot my shirt at the water's edge.
The moon is low tonight.

Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.
I'm not sure all these people understand.
It's not like years ago,
The fear of getting caught,
of recklessness and water.
They cannot see me naked.
These things, they go away,
replaced by everyday.

Nightswimming, remembering that night.
September's coming soon.
I'm pining for the moon.
And what if there were two
Side by side in orbit
Around the fairest sun?
That bright, tight forever drum
could not describe nightswimming.

You, I thought I knew you.
You I cannot judge.
You, I thought you knew me,
this one laughing quietly underneath my breath.
Nightswimming.

The photograph reflects,
every streetlight a reminder.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.

Evanescence- Tourniquet

i tried to kill the pain
but only brought more
i lay dying
and i'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal
i'm dying praying bleeding and screaming
am i too lost to be saved
am i too lost?

my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation
my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation

do you remember me
lost for so long
will you be on the other side
or will you forget me
i'm dying praying bleeding and screaming
am i too lost to be saved
am i too lost?

my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation
my God my tourniquet
return to me salvation

my wounds cry for the grave
my soul cries for deliverance
will i be denied Christ
tourniquet
my suicide

Thats a cool song, who sings it?

Pink floyd, that is the original version of dogs that they sung in tours, was originally going to be on WYWH, but they rewrote, changed it name to dogs and put it on the ANIMALS album, they only played it live at concerts back in 74ish

[00:29]Now and again,
[00:32]It seems worse than it is,
[00:36]But mostly the view is accurate.
[00:43]You see your breath in the air
[00:46]As you climb up the stairs
[00:50]To that coffin you call your apartment.
[00:57]And you sink in your chair,
[01:01]Brush the snarls from your hair
[01:04]And drink the cold away.
[01:12]And you are not really sure
[01:15]What you are doing this for
[01:18]But you need something to fill up the days.
[01:26]A few more hours.

[01:43]There is a dream in my brain
[01:46]That just won?t go away.
[01:50]It's been stuck there since it came
[01:53]A few nights ago
[01:56]And I?m standing on a bridge
[02:00]In the town where I lived
[02:03]As a kid with my mom and my brothers.
[02:10]And then the bridge disappears
[02:14]And I?m standing on air
[02:17]With nothing holding me.
[02:24]And I hang like a star, fuck!ng glow in the dark,
[02:30]For all those starving eyes to see,
[02:38]Like the ones we?ve wished on.

[02:42]But now I?m confused.
[02:45]Is this depth really you?
[02:50]Do these dreams have any meaning?
[02:55]No. No, I think it is more like a ghost
[02:59]That's been following us both.
[03:03]Something vague that we are not seeing,
[03:10]Something more like a feeling.

a song from a swedish band during the ´80s

BIBLE
by Imperiet(the impire)

The earth was spinning all vacant and waste
And there was silence over the ocean
When a voice came thundering from above
The first day of light was in motion

And the voice said may fruits be created
And seeds take root as they may
And no crimes were yet commited
An life was breathing it's second day

And in his image the voice made a man
And a woman to love one another
And they became rulers of the new born globe
And the third day was their mother

Now who will prey for Babylon
Sing a song to Babylon
On their knees the people of Babylon
You beat that drum coz Babylon is falling

Man and woman learn to make fire
And kingdoms and walls were extended
The fourth day the walls were reaching so far
No-one knew how to end them

And no one heard the voice anymore
Metal-cities rose and ascend
The fifth day sprinted in to fall
And a rain fell over the land

There are no walls to stop such a rain
That keeps falling forever more
I was told by a voice the sixth day
The globe was like an open soar

Now who will prey for Babylon
Sing a song to Babylon
On their knees the people of Babylon
You beat that drum coz Babylon is falling

The earth was spinning all vacant and waste
And there was silence over the oceans
When a voice came thundering from above
The seventh day was in motion

Now who will prey for Babylon
Sing a song to Babylon
On their knees the people of Babylon
You beat that drum coz Babylon is falling

Not all of them. However, most on Wish You Were Here and Animals and "Echoes" on the album Meddle are rather long.

And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

what song is that?

Pink Floyd - Time

Another vote for that song.

And then your time's your own until you die

I gotta admit to a lot of confusion
Pain in the head is the child of collusion
Gotta resist the creeping malaise
You gotta beleive in the way you get out of the maze

But you, you just keep on pretending
You can tell a sucker from a friend
But you still raise the knife to
Stranger, lover, friend and foe alike

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was sent out to play on his own
Who was raised on a diet of shame
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with bridle and bit
Who was given a seat in the stand
Who was forcing his way to the rails
Who was offered a place on the board
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone

I love it! I will have to look through my stack of PF to see if I can find that version. I know there were many different versions, as Waters had so many images in his mind. Like the difference between the US release of the Wall and the Wall soundtrack.
