Songs that make great ringtones?

Ever since I figured out how to make decent sounding ringtones using the "WhatUHear" input and Audacity (highpass at 400hz, lowpass at 8000hz, normalized + equalized, export to mp3 at 32kb/s, 22khz, 8bit mono) I've been putting a crapload on my RAZR.

Here's what I got so far:

- Banana Phone (duh!)
- Banquet (Bloc Party)
- Bizarre Love Triangle (New Order...requested by a girl who calls me as her Ring ID)
- Breakfast Machine (infamous 'Blue Ball Theme' by Danny Elfman)
- Dani California (RHCP...the song stuck in my head for the past 2 weeks)
- Don't Change (INXS...the first 20 seconds or so)
- Everybody Have Fun (Wang Chung...I use this for my parents' Ring IDs)
- Frolic Room (311)
- Girls (Beastie Boys...currently my default ring...the first 5 seconds of the song!)
- God Moving... (Moby...the theme from 'Heat', beautiful ringer)
- Imperial March (Star Wars...thanks quakefiend420!)
- Jamming (Bob Marley)
- Juicebox (The Strokes...use this for a needy girl--"Why don'tcha come over heeeere!")
- Let Me Blow Ya Mind (Eve...use this for some hot girls as Ring IDs)
- Mario Bros. Theme (thanks NatePo717!)
- Mr Brightside (Killers...use it for a guy who just broke up with his g/f)
- Murder She Wrote (Chaka Demus & Pliers...for hot chicks with b/fs who don't like me!)
- Send Me an Angel (Real Life...for my sisters :))
- Spottieottiedopaliscious (Outkast...just the brass loop...for my southern peeps)
- Still Dre (Dr. Dre--his loops make good celly ringers!)
- Take On Me (a-ha...was my midi ringer for a long time, now I got an mp3 version)
- The Only Difference (Dre again)
- Xxplosive (Dre again)

That seems like a lot of ringers...but since each is 20-30 seconds, and only 90-120kb, I've still got half my memory left!

You and me both...that's why I use Beastie's "Girls" as default...it honestly sounds like a ringer should, yet still has personality. The personalized rings help for people who call me a lot though, and most of the songs I put on don't sound obnoxious as a ringer (no insane cymbals or drums washing out the sound on the tinny speaker, etc.) It helps to use the filters too.

Anyway's that's why I made this thread...I want songs that make good ringers, not just good songs. I tried making a ringer out of Rihanna's 'SOS' for a friend, and it sounded horrible, so I deleted it and told them it couldn't be done for all our sakes!

Well luckily I already had Imperial March and the Mario theme (orchestral version) so I made ringers of both! Thanks for the recommendations....and keep 'em coming!

Wow, only 9 replies? I guess I'm the only geek who cares about ringtones. And everyone thought this was gonna be a billion dollar market. Ha!

I use Burning Heat from Gradius 2 as my ringtone. I can't use mp3s for my phone, but it still sounds right using normal polyphonic. :)

Edit: The soundtrack from Contra also rocks for ringtones. :D

Can anyone recommend a site where I can learn more about how to do this or where I can download some free ringtones?

I just got my razr yesterday and would like to make my ringtone the bond theme.

While I personally do not use a ringtone (vibrate most of the time and default ringer the rest), I have heard around my office Coldplay's Clocks used as a pretty cool sounding ringtone. Also, the Batman theme (Adam West version) and the old BSG theme.

Oh, and I almost forgot

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta... it's good if your boss/work friends have your cell number
