Songs about suicide are NOT motivating...

So as I was doing my barbell rows today at the gym, Adam's Song by Blink 182 came on. What the fuck is a song about depression and suicide doing on a gym's playlist?! Don't get me wrong, Blink 182 is fun and Adam's Song is good, but I don't think the gym is the time or place to hear that song. So I complained, and the girl at the counter gave me the dirtiest fucking look. "Yeah we're working on it!" she snorted back. "OK," I said. "Have a nice day." As I was heading out the door she stuck one last comment in. "Just so you know, it's a random playlist."

Take the song off the fucking playlist, and it won't randomly play.

Ultimately, I think if people want to listen to music they should just bring their own .mp3 player and headphones.

In about one year, I'll finally have enough cash saved up for a downpayment on a home. I can't wait. The first thing I'm going to do is put a power rack and olympic bumper plates in my garage. The second thing I'm going to do is cancel my gym membership.

Disagree bro. Nothing gets me pumpin iron like knowing that no matter how bad I feel, at least I'm stronger than the suicidal.

I think the point is, who cares. Hardly anyone listens to the lyrics...if you can actually disseminate what they are saying in a song while you are working out, you're not concentrating enough on what you are doing. You can't please everyone - you're going to offend someone by playing rap songs about bitches hoes and thugging. You're going to offend someone by playing metal songs about suicide (Disturbed - Inside The Fire is about it, yet it's one of the most pump you up in your face songs out there) or raging against society. Etc. Don't like it? Bring a damn iPod and play your own music.

Really? Anybody who has listened to a radio in the last 15 years knows that song, and knows what it's about. I wasn't singing along with the song.

And my point is that they shouldn't be playing ANY music at the gym. No songs about suicide. No songs about bitches and hoes and thugging. No songs about mmbop. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. If people don't like THAT, THEY can bring THEIR ipod and listen to THEIR own music.

And clearly you are in the minority. Don't like it? Quit and join a new gym. No wonder the front desk chick thought you were a crybaby - because you are one.

OP is fucktard - kill yourself.

Seriously not everyone is going to like the music plaiyng in the gym, go get an ipod.

You're absolutely right, except me being a fucktard, and except me needing to bring my ipod to the gym. They can't please everyone, so they should try to please no one. Turn the music off. If I want to listen to music - if ANYBODY wants to listen to music -we'll bring our ipods.

...Don't like it? Quit and join a new gym...

In the process of doing that, actually.

I just wanted to add that I brought earplugs home from work tonight. It's a bandaid, but it'll work until I find a new gym.

And this is why we can't have nice things, the one guy who will bitch.
