There's some song I've heard played from time to time on a radio at work...unfortunately, it's always played in some other room. I can't ever make out any of the lyrics, and all I do hear of it is a musical section that might be violins or something.

This instrumental section (a little bit after 1:31) in "My Girl" reminded me of it though.
Sorry I don't exactly have a lot more to go on here, so it may kind of be a shot in the dark. Might that section of music jog anyone's memory?

Edit: I just put together a little sound clip of an approximation of the instrumental section, at about the right tempo. I'm pretty sure it's some manner of string instrument, like what's played here. (Thanks to Wikicomposer.)

Lyrics? Genre?
If I knew any lyrics, I'd have done a Google search and likely found it by now. I think it's a male singer, and the song is....I don't know, kind of laid back I guess. I've only ever taken notice of the song when the instrumental section starts, and the rest of it isn't especially distinct. (And I generally have a difficult time with the speech interpretation aspect of any song.)

I know that this isn't exactly a whole lot to go on.:\

No, not quite the right melody or instrument. I think it's a string instrument, like what's in the MP3 clip.

nice :thumbsup::thumbsup:
The full version is around 35 minutes. Google for "usmileambient" and you should come across an MP3 for it. Word is that it's something like some of the music in Gladiator.

Schoolteachers, a fun thing to try: Play the song in the background for a class that's primarily boys. Then after awhile, tell them it's Justin Bieber. Watch heads explode. :D

Great song. Nearly 14 years old now, hard to believe.

What the FUCK is that supposed to mean?

Jk... in all seriousness though older > modern music. I highly doubt these club beats/ghetto rap/pop music will be remembered after a year or so. That is the true test for music... if it can last through time...

What's funny is just how old the music from the song really is...

EDIT>> Apparently the song I listed isn't the correct version. This is the correct song.

You can use things like Soundhound to search for songs by humming or singing.
I tried a few of those sites, but they couldn't come up with anything.
From what I read here and there online, those sorts of things aren't terribly accurate, in that you can play them a recorded clip right from a specific song, and they can't always recognize it.

If I had ever reliably heard any lyrics from the song, I'd have searched for those. Unfortunately, I was never nearby a radio that was playing this, as it was always in some other room, or in a noisy shop at work. Couple that with the fact that I have a difficult time pulling words out of regular speech, and it gets worse when there's background sound overlaid with someone talking. Generally if I want to know a song's words, it's best if I read the lyrics and memorize them that way.

Yes, I know this. :)
But evidently it was close enough.
