i love how you keep running into characters over and over again. what seems like a chance encounter in one part of a book turns into a significant event 2 books later.

plus killing off main characters is good.

seems to me he needs at least two more books to wind it up, however, beyond dance with dragons. maybe dance will move it further along than i'm expecting, with daenarys poised to invade westeros (and maybe destroy the others) so that one book will finish it, but i doubt it.

the best part is the anti-hero tyrion, in my mind. he's the most plotting and coniving character ever, but he's also very sincere and is usually trying to help.

i wish he'd hurry up and finish dance, though. after being lost through most of feast for crows i started re-reading the other books (being lost may have had something to do with reading half a book, though). i'd like to read dance before forgetting it all again.

j/k. I have never heard of these books. In fact, I don't read much.

Are you new to this club, or merely posting this?

I wonder if Tyrion will ever find his wife or if Jon is going to be the third head of the dragon.

After hearing so much about the series from ATOT, I got the first book for Christmas last year. Even though I'm not much into fantasy, I loved the first 3 books and I'm about to start on AFFC.

i have first editions of everything but a game of thrones, so i wouldn't say that i'm new to this club.

Have you read his "not a blog?" He has a link sent to him about an onion article about authors not killing off characters. So not grrm.

Too bad he isn't the kind of author that stays in his basement all day writing but actually goes outside and watches football and stuff.

EDIT: If he ever takes out Jon, I will be one pissed off reader.

Strongly disagree. In its best moments it might be one of the better series, but most of the time it is derivative and a little too often degrades into cliched drek.

You disagree, but I'd like to see some books that you consider to be good? I'm always open to new material and need something for an upcoming trip.

Well, I'd definitely consider the LOTR quite good. Gene Wolfe books (book of the new sun, etc.). Earthsea's not bad, I guess. Writing this post, I came to realize I'm not a huge fan of the genre in general.

I normally don't care for a lot in this genre, but Tyrion is one of my favorite characters created in all of literature. Great series, can't wait for the next installment.
