I'm running an A64 3000+ in an Antec Sonata. The documentation shows that the PS fan speeds may be as low as 1500 RPM at times. Well, mine have never been OVER 1500. It usually runs at around 1350, as measured by SpeedFan, while my CPU fan stays right around 3400RPM. I am using the Fan Only connectors for the case fan, and I do NOT have Cool 'n Quiet enabled. My temps aren't really high, but aren't as low as some I've read about. The CPU hovers around 45C at idle and at one point hit 57C after running Prime 95 for about 12 hours. I just want to be sure that the temp sensor for the fans is working properly, as those speeds sound a little low to me.
 
I remember seeing a list somewhere that had at what temperatures the PSU would ramp up its fan speed. If I remember correctly the case temp has to be at least 45 for the fans to go past 1700.
 
I have one of my computers in a Sonata case, and I too am quite pleasantly surprised by this product. I've set my Zalman 7000A-Cu to spin at 60-70% which keeps the Athlon 64 3200+ in that system cool while at continous max load cool while the cooler is practically inaudible.

i hate the truepower's low speed fan throttling, i have the PS in my Sonota stretched very thin and it generates a LOT of heat. the fan never kicks up because i replaced the old rear case fan with one that pulls 140CFM. the PS throws a lot of heat and i'd like to find a way to get it to always run at full speed to expend some heat.

Isn't that actually really simple? Don't connect the fan directly to your TruePower PSU, but instead to one of the motherboards 3-pin fan connectors. That ought to make it run at 100% unless manually tampered with. Unless I'm mistaken?
 
Hmm I guess I'm fine then. I just expected the fan speed to fluctuate a little more, but then again I haven't really started gaming hard yet or anything.
