A couple of questions:

1. What is the eSATA front connector used for?

2. Is the front door removable?

1- eSATA is the new standard for externally connecting hot-swappable SATA HDDs. You get about the same performance as if it were connected internally. Much better than either USB or FW unless you are one of the few to have FW-800

2- If it was, it would be a first for Antec.

The P180 had a removable door.

I hadn't heard that before - learn something new every day. I heard that the normal way to remove a P180 door is to be patient and it will eventually break off... ;)

Nah, you just open the door 180 degrees, then gently pull the middle of the hinge out , then it comes right out.
