You honestly call the hoods on those cars drop-in interchangeable? Really? If you do, I'd really think about getting an optometrist to examine your eyes. Of course, this doesn't even cover the completely different A, B, and C pillars, the different door handles, wheel arches, and on and on.

The first image on google images is an exact copy of one of yours, the door has a bit more of a crease, the seam above the bodyside is in exactly the same spot, the bumper is slightly different, the fog lights are orange instead of white, oh and the hood is exactly the same.

I fail to see how people can think these new Sonata's look good. I think they are one of the ugliest vehicles produced in the last 10 years...maybe more. The profile is horrid. Horrible jumble of hard lines, and sagging features.

I agree, the whole concept of dragging the front headlights halfway down the fender is FUGLY IMO..

Honestly, you really think those two vehicles are exact duplicates of one another.....weld for weld, as you said?

Roofline is completely different, gas filler door is on opposite sides, wheel arches are different, doors are completely different, the Sonata is 2" wider, 3" taller, 3" longer, has a 3" wider front track and 2" wider rear track, 1/2" longer wheelbase....hell, a blind man can see the two vehicles are completely different.

But I guess since both have hoods, doors, windows, headlights, taillights, wheels, tires....they're copies of one another, as are all other vehicles out there.

You're so full of dung your eyes are brown.

sonata's look nice, one of the better Hyundai looks.

BTW, one of Ford's rear ends reminds me of an Accord. I actually did a double-take on the Ford badge that time. Too lazy to compare years.

The new Sonatas are all over the place where I live now. The grill without the chrome is definately more pleasing to the eye. It's amazing that it's actually shorter than the Camry and Accord but has more usable interior space.

I like it.

Damn man look at your own link, its a 96 ... you just can't fix stupid.

--edit oh and I know they are copies because I programed the welds, and any time the very different welders hyundai used were blowing holes, the korean engineers just kept telling us to use Honda's weld parameters.

I love my 07 sonata v6 it looks exactly like the pic posted. I have had zero issues and I'm at 88,000 miles. nice care comfortable stable quiet and you couldn't beat the price compared to any Honda or Toyota.

First off, you haven't done anything to prove your point other than that you're seemingly blind in saying they look identical. Post the exact pictures that you're claiming as proof that they look identical. I did look at Google image searches and if you can't tell the very discernible differences (the taillights for one) then you are ridiculously obtuse. There are similarities, but I can't even fathom how you actually claim they are literally identical.

As for programming the welds, maybe I'm mistaken, but weld parameters isn't just where the welds are going. Even then, the body panels aren't welded on, so there can still be a pretty big disparity in how the car looks.

Lastly, call me crazy, but so you not only programmed exactly where the welds went on the 06 Sonata, but had the exact data from the 97 Accord on hand to pull up and have it make them the exact same? Considering you can't seem to notice some pretty clear differences between the cars, I'm going to lean more to calling BS.

Ok true enough, I didn't really spend the hour on google previously, here ya go:

lots of images linked with exactly the same tail lights

plastic is easy to change, small hole around the tail lights not that hard

there are many different countries of orgin for both cars, the links above should prove my point.

I'm out, not trying to be another fleabag, not actually hating on hyundai, who can blame them for working from one of the most successful cars ever.

One thing I did come to realize, nothing that comes out of the bodyshop really means much for reliability, it's way more about the paint and the electrical, and props to hyundai for turning it around in a few short years.
