Best wishes to your family - only positive thoughts can help and it's not the end of the world, remember that. You're blessed with a child of your own and not everyone can say that - I know some who've been trying for well over a year.

And if it helps, I guess it's ok my Caps lose game 1 to your Bruins tomorrow.

Enjoy the pregnancy and your child when he/she is born. There will be some "oh sh!t" moments for sure. But you and your wife will get through them.

My two year old daughter had a daycare accident a couple of weeks ago, the tip of her pinky finger was severed off while she was standing along gate. Took of the fingernail and some bone at the very tip of her finger. Things do happen and it's heart-breaking.

Best of luck to your daughter OP. She's a cutie.

soxfan, i'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's heart condition. she's such a beautiful baby. praying for her, you and your family.

Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone. I'll update the OP in a minute. Not much to report, but it helps to chronicle this.

Good luck to you and your family. My daughter had/has some complications though not nearly as serious as the one you describe and I was stressed out! Hang in there.

Yup not fair but with modern medicine hope you and yours get closer to fair. All the best.

Update 1 (04/11/2012) - Started our daighter (Olivia) on Lasix (Furosemide) two days ago. For those unfamiliar with Lasix, its basically a high power diuretic. In my daughters case, it is being administed to help remove fluid from her lungs, allowing her to breathe easier and buy some more time to grow. Thankfully she is growing. She's gained 2 lbs since birth (now 7lbs, up from 5lbs, 1oz at birth), which is great. First follow up with the cardiologist is tomorrow. Will update the post if there is anything interesting to report.

That sounds very hopeful! I hope she continues to improve. 🙂

My daughter was born with a VSD also. Fortunately hers was small enough that it closed itself over a number of months and she didn't require surgery.

She is 16 months old now and has a clean bill of health.

I wish you and your daughter the best of luck.

So sad. Not much you can do but hope for the best. I know it doesn't look good, but at least there is a course to take that can fix her. Best of luck to you and your daughter.

I don't really pray, but your daughter is beautiful, and I hope everything goes as well as possible ... you'll be in my thoughts. As a father of 3 under the age of five, I can't imagine what you're going through, but I am more thankful of their current health than anything.

Good luck man ...

Man something like this really puts everything else in perspective. We all complain and whine about all sorts of things that in the grand scheme are very trivial. Good luck, hopefully everything goes great and you can post updates soon how everything went well!
