Serious question: Would you object to paying for a date with someone attractive? I'm not talking about a hookup, but an actual first date. I just saw an interesting news segment for this website:
https://www.whatsyourprice.com
It's kind of a first-date service. Whereas Tinder is supposedly more for hookups, and eHarmony is for finding long-term relationships, and other websites are for "business" relationships, this service simply has you pay for a first date with someone attractive. The way the segment spun it was that you skip having to go places & meet people and the whole social awkwardness that can come with that. At first, the idea sounded ludicrous, but then I remembered the dating scene...I was pretty shy at the time & it can be hard to find people to date if you're not super-social IRL, and being lonely stinks. I have a number of single friends in this situation now...they work, maybe they don't drink (so no bars) or don't dance (so no clubs), and they complain about not being able to find people to actually just go on a date with, so maybe this idea isn't as bad as I first thought it was. I thought online dating sites were kinda crazy when they first came out, but I have several friends who have ended up marrying people they've met through them, so Internet dating seems like a pretty legit way to meet people these days, I guess. Growing up in the pre-Internet 80's & 90's, the idea still kinda creeps me out though lol.
