Supposedly this one is for a movie though. 😛 They're actually shooting a movie here called Two lovers and a Bear. Pretty awesome.

keep lying to yourself about how awesome your city is when snow covers the ground 1/2 the year. that's not awesome at all.

It would be awesome if snow covered the ground 12 months of the year, but 6 months is pretty damn good. Better than most places for sure!

I don't know. It's hit the 90s here this week and that white stuff looks pretty good right now.

Hey OP, how easy is it to emigrate to Canada? You've got all that land and very few people living there. How about it?

Last year we a brown bear with cubs come down out of the mountains and walk through downtown. Then they went over to the nearby high school and climbed up a tree and stayed there for a while.

Not sure, I don't think it's that hard especially with the temporary foreign worker program. 😛 While you're there you could then work on getting citizenship. But seriously though, I'm not that sure what's involved.

And we have snow on the ground more like 2/3 of the year. 😛 It's great because it fills in the pot holes so it makes driving better.

after about a day or two having to drive around in it, you will change your mind.

Days of driving through it or avoiding the outside and spending most of your time finding adequate air conditioning? There has to be some sort of happy medium. I hope to retire by 2020 ... Where to retire so that there is that happy medium?

Certainly not Seattle. Forget about it. Don't even bother to visit. Waste of time.

Try somewhere on the Appalachian Mountain range. It runs all the way from Tenn to Canada. It generally doesn't get too hot up in the mountains, nor does it stay too cold for long. The trick is the right location and altitude.

And after years of it, and the months of overcast skies each winter, you wonder why the suicide rate isn't much higher than it is.

But then you remember other things:
- No spiders or scorpions the size of pigeons.
- The hills don't regularly catch on fire.
- The hills also don't regularly turn into mud and pay the city suburbs a visit.
- The ground rarely quakes around.
- Tornados don't blow through on a regular schedule like a NYC subway train.
- Bees get pissed off if disturbed, but they don't marshal the entire hive to hunt down and murder your entire family line.
- You're not in Florida.

I know, right? Fuck Seattle. Too crowded, too much crime. But then again, do NOT move to the Kitsap peninsula. This place is already getting too crowded. (sez the newcomer to the area) 😛

My city is grimy. Hopefully I can better interact with my neighbors when the weather gets better

you can do plenty outside in the heat. we have brutal humid summers around here in the DMV area. i'm outside the majority of the time that i'm not working when it's warm out. but a lot of that time is near water.
