And you call it outlandish when people support spreading that tax out to everyone instead of punishing drinkers for no reason other than that they're an easy target?

There is something wrong with you.

Couldn't have said it better myself, though that big of an increase in property taxes seems pretty bad....

It would make more sense to add a tax to gas but of course that would not make sense to ppl already complaining of high price of gas or what you call it a high price its still cheaper than here in Canada. It's $5/gallon here and $1.68/gallon is tax... Or like OP said you pay more for the bus pass and that is it.

Why should we pay for bicycle paths if we don't use it? People on bikes should pay for it say a license for cyclists that let them use their piece of the road that our gas taxes pay for.

Uh, I don't think I ever said I was supporting the drink tax either. I was commenting on the fact that people are so fiercely opposed to this drink tax that they're willing to consent to an ass raping in property taxes just to get it eliminated.

I've seen and been affected by the drink tax. It doesn't make me happy that my beer costs $.20 more than it usually does, but I'm not going to say the county can add a few hundred (if not thousand) dollars onto my property taxes all so I can save that $.20 on each drink I buy.

Asking people that drink to vote to not paying more ?
Obama and McCain would love those odds.
