They put these up in public places to watch the nerds blow a vein.

Look for the one table that's laughing at you once you get done spasming on the floor.

Do you feel the need to crap in every thread you post in?

Well keep it going, as most here need to be taught. Someone in this thread stated something about kids getting out of High School without even having basic language skills.

With all the abbreviating, texting and spell checking programs, I'm really not that surprised.

Meh, that's nothing. I went and grabbed an unopened soldering iron the other day to do some soldering and happened to take a look at the back. Here are just a snippet of the instructions. This is an exact quote. I couldn't even make this shit up.

- Initial Use, there is some smoke temporary but it will soon be diminished then, no smoke after all. -Don't make coil with water as it may causes damage of heater. Request for natural cooling. - After use the tip may still the hot. Allow to cool sufficiently before touching or store or may occur burns or fires.

Kind of sounds like W wrote that, doesn't it?

or translated to english from another language.

as far as the sign goes, if you replace the "at" with "and" it sounds much better, until you get to would. move the never in front of would and it would flow much better, correct or not.

"I enjoy working at campus dining services because I have gotten to meet and work with people i otherwise never would have met."

the never move is optional, it should work either way i guess. i probably would have said "..i otherwise wouldnt have ever met". but im not much of a grammar nazi.

One time at college I saw a flyer that said

: Roommate Wanted.
Male or Female Preferred.

Also at the bottom:

"Enjoy where you work and join the Campus Dining Team!" Doesn't really make any sense to someone who reads that sign and already works elsewhere.

In a side note, a local mayoral candidate butchered the English language on a flier that was send around to most everyone in the town.

Well at least I know who I'm not going to vote for.

You still need to read more novels.

I still don't see the relevance. How does me reading more books affect the poor grammar of the poster?

Way to generalize 60,000 people there buddy. Obviously, wehave our fair share of idiots, but we also have a great deal of nationally known academic programs. Regardless, it isn't really relevant to the topic at hand.

Fixed. Lol, the irony.

Indirect objects don't come into it. There's nothing in the sentence you quoted that could be interpreted as an indirect object. We have "I", the subject. We have "have gotten", the perfect tense of get, using the variant past participle "gotten" instead of "got". We have "the chance", the direct object. We have "to meet", an infinitive, here using the intransitive form, which can't take an object. Instead a prepositional phrase is attached describing the circumstances of the intransitive action, "with people". Finally we have "at work", an adverbial construction describing the place where the action is performed. This last element would more conventionally be placed at the end of the clause, but it is still correct, albeit awkward.
