Ok i don't know why but it seen to me that my computer is too slow for what it is suppose to be.
A7N8x-dx, 2100XP, 512mbs ram, Geforce3 ti500
This weeks, 3dmark2k3 and C&C General got out and they bot are running very slowly...well..i have a score of 1180 and I can't even run the demo mode cause in the doom3 like demo it crash ( well it begin by being very..then it crash ) and in C&C all graphics max out in 1024 and my computer is slow...

I would like to know what could make my pc so slow...or what result are you getting with those two programs

BTW..I was at my friend's house tonight and we ran 3dmark2k3 on his p4 1.9 and his geforce 3 ( first model ) and it ram way much faster than my computer.

Well your computer is way more powerful than your friend's is so it shouldn't be a matter of horsepower as much as it might be a configuration issue. What version of Detonators are you running? Did you install the NVidia chipset drivers? Is your memory running at the proper speed? In the DirectX tab of your video card advanced settings, do you have high performance or high quality settings selected?

Detonator 40.72
Nforce2 nvidia driver 2.03
My ram settings are agressive
cl2 at 133mhz(266ddr) ( in sync with my cpu ) my ram is 333mhz normally..that's the only thing who's throttle down to be in sync with my cpu.
The card is set to performance.
BTW 2 days ago i had a geforce 2 pro and C&C generals could barely run with all setting to minimum so i dont think it's a video card problem since the game can run on a 800mhz with a gefroce2.

Have you tried the 30.82 Detonators? I have better luck with that set of drivers than with any 4x.xx drivers.

About 3DMark2003, it is a DX9 benchmark (not all DX9) and it is very hard on even high end modern gaming cards. GF4s get smacked around by it. I wouldn't worry about 3DMark2003, but your game is another matter. Gaming performance is what it's all about.

No i didn't try them,I'm going to if you recommand so..but i don't belive it's a video driver problem....but i have no ideo of what it could be except for that..

Did you recently add a drive or any thing to the computer that can drain more power? Or if your using a Generic PSU it might not be pumping out enough power. I had the same problem with my dads computer it used a 350w Generic, it would take a good 10minutes just for the desktop to showup. but when i bought a 400w Antec it ran just fine. Always buy name brand psu's

Make sure to uninstall the old drivers first (sorry if that offended you). Others have not done so and had bad problems as a result.

No new drive and i honestly dont think it's a PSU problem since I have 1 hd, 1 dvdrom and no card except for my video.
My PSU is an ANTEC 350w..more than enough.

Bienvenue Le Québécois a anandtech.:)

dont even bench a hacked leaked doom3.

first of all,did you install all your agp & ide drivers?

it's very easy to think a setup is crap until you instal all the right drivers.

I think he meant the Doom 3 "like" test in 3dmark03, not doom 3 itself :)

You can get them right HERE.. To uninstall the old drivers, just go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall the NVidia Display Drivers. On reboot the 30.82s. Reboot. When in Windows again, tweak your video settings appropriately and begin to test. Hopefully this works out for you.

3dmark doesn't crash anymore....now all i have for those directx8 test is a black screen with some light flash and the sound of the test..but no picture to speak of...
no my card isn't overclock.....

I just taugh of something...Maybe my card wasn't slow before this week..hard to tell..but what i can tell you is that i did install directx 9 for 3dmark2k3 and that was before i did try C&C.

I suppose it is possible for your system to be messed up by DX9. I installed it on my system (GF4) and it didn't break anything but that is not conclusive evidence by any means.

Thank you all for trying to help me.
Just one last thing, Is it possible to reinstall direct 8 on directx 9?

I wouldn't. I believe there is an uninstaller for DX9 out on the web somewhere. Run that then install DX8.1.

Le Québécois, I see SeekingTao suggested you use a DX9 uninstaller. If you're interested PM me, I have one I downloaded a while ago. I haven't used it so the usual caveat applies, re screwing up your machine - YMMV.

FWIW I just checked the uninstaller and it's for XP only.

The A7N8X needs the chipset drivers from Asus, not the NVidia drivers. The NVidia drivers are not configured correctly for the A7N8X.
Make sure you don't have AA or AF on.
