Of all comparable nation-wide retailers, Target does reign supreme.

You might be able to save a little bit by shopping at Walmart, and Walmart generally has a heck of a lot more to offer, but it's just not worth it. I'd rather combine trips by going to both Target and Kroger (the nearest "shopping center" just down the road has both, which is simply all kinds of Win), then ever step foot in a Walmart.

For the all-in-one experience, around here, Meijer is also better. But Meijer has limited market reach iirc.
Above all though, I absolutely prefer Target. It's a cleaner and classier shopping experience. And the employees actually seem to have a passing interest in possibly helping you, and actually knowing how to do so.

Haha can't start a Walmart thread without Target fan boys hijacking it. I just don't understand why people feel the need to argue over this. They are both steaming piles of excrement.

Walmart is a turd. You shop at Walmart when you're broke and don't care who knows it. No pretending.
Target is a polished turd catering to those "elitists" who are also broke but can't bring themselves to be seen with the trailer trash and ghetto rats at Walmart. It's only slightly better in terms of "class of people". They keep the prices just high enough to keep out the welfare recipients.

I never see any limos parked outside or personal assistants in $1000 suits running around Target shopping for their millionaire bosses. Just normal broke people who never miss a chance to tell everyone they don't shop at Walmart.

I've never been to a department store that was pleasant. I don't like shopping anywhere, but when I have to all I'm interested in is what I came to get. To me, life is too short to pretend that going to one department store rather than another is improving it in any real way.

I've been to plenty that were great and I hate shopping.
Whats the one in Paris with the champagne and oyster bar in? That was great, just parking the trolly and grabbing a glass and a nibble.

I find a huge difference in my time spent shopping at Costco vs Walmart. Costco they will bend over backwards to help and they are always in a good mood (good pay/benefits). Walmart employees are disgruntled and rude as hell (slave wages/shit benefits). Not to mention at Walmart you deal with the people of Walmart types. Don't even get me started on the free samples or the $1.50 hot dog and soda or the nonfat chocolate yogurts for $1.35 @ Costco.
I don't give any money to the slave driver Walmart's, save money, and avoid the people of Walmart.

places like giant eagle, meijer, farmer jack

cost anywhere double to triple what my total bill at aldi + walmart + sams club is

save 100$ a month on that and there is roughly 100$k extra if you invest it for 25 years at %8 compounded

of course thats not the only thing i try to save money on, but everything adds up.

I spend about $350 a month at Walmart, at Target I'd spend about $75 more. I go to Walmart at midnight so there's usually very few people, and I'm there maybe 25 minutes total. I guess I'm a "poor person" because I shop there. I personally find giving up about 4 hours a year to save a thousand bucks a smart financial choice *shrug*

Ya my dad loved that type of treatment and he blew like a million instead of investing it. Its for poor people. Rich people invest their own money in stocks and save money in their budget. They typically have like one thing that they splurge on IE whole foods but still go to wally world.

Not too long ago I was walking behind a supervisor/manager (assuming so based on their different clothes, many keys and a walkie-talkie) down an isle at my local walmart. In the middle of the isle there was a crumpled up piece of trash. Instead of picking it up as she got to it, she just kicked it under a merchandise display and went on her way.

Thats walmart for you. The employees just dont give a fuck and it shows. They have lowish prices and they know it so why bother with anything else.

Walmart overwhelmingly tries to make it's workforce feel insignificant, replaceable and powerless, often with horrible wages and poor benefits that set the standard for the rest of the retail world. Is it any wonder the employees after a while just stop giving a fuck?

I've noticed that Walmart stopped stocking a lot of brands and that the prices are not lower than my local WINCO, especially in the fresh meat/seafood section.
