well, i went to replace the ribbon ide cables with rounded ones and realized that my secdon hard drive doesnt have a slave option cause its off of an old dell system... so i had to use two cables for my drives, then when i got it to boot, windows wouldnt open except in safe mode, then i messed around switching settings and such trying to get it to work... i set everything back to normal including old ide cables, now it wont boot at all, no response when i push the power button... theres a green light on the mb still on, but other than that i get nothing....

i felt two shocks when i touched the inside wall of the case... i figured that was fine... cause i was touching the case to be grounded... but my im deathly afraid it wasnt that fine.... what should i do???

is it probably a fried MB??

im pissed... all this over some d*mn rounded cables

Yes, its possible you fried something.....especially if the spark went through your case and into your motherboard. Best thing to do is unplug all non-essential items (pci cards, extra harddrives, etc) and see if you get any response....if so, work up from there until you see what failed.

sometimes on older mobos if the jumpers are set on the same cable to both master/master, it will cause it to not boot.

try disconnectingi the IDE devices all together and see if it comes on.

I agree with trying to disconnect everything that isn't necessary to post.

Just have the CPU, motherboard, RAM, and video card.

Disconnect the IDE cables and take out the rest of your cards.

If your hard drive does not have a master/slave jumper (make sure to check the PCB too, sometimes its a jumper on the board of the HD instead of on the back) it most likely uses cable select, but I could be wrong on this one.
