I keep getting this error:

Cannot find a device file needed to run Windows or a Windows application.
The windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file but the device file no longer exists.
If you deleted this file on purpose try uninstalling the assocaited application using its ininstall or setup program.
Ifyou still want to use the application associated with this device file try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

Says this fro all of these files: vnetsup.vxd
vredir.vxd
dfs.vxd

Does anyone know what program these missing files are associated with?
I really dont want to reformat b/c i have too many important files that are 2 big to back up.If you can help please post.

See if getting a program like regcleaner at www.tweakfiles.com may help you find these rogue files or file referencing now removed files and drivers...

Just guessing here though...either way it shouldn't hurt...

Look through the Sys and Win.ini files and see if you can locate the section which contains the refernce to the application that used those virtual device drivers. Go to Start and then Run and type "win.ini" and then "sys.ini" and it will bring them up for you to search through.

If that doesn't work, do what Duvie suggested but definitely don't format over this.

no but its a new pc and i installed the DSL drivers would that be it?I also installed my GeForce2 Drivers and other hardware drivers.

let me guess...you installed and didnt reboot when they asked you...or installed lots of hardware one after another without rebooting...
