Something you didn't know about fireflies (Neato mosquito).

No Lifer
One got into the apartment last night and it amused the cat. I kept staring at the cat instead of watching our movie so Mrs. Skoorb smushed the firefly against the wall. It was a large fly and the firey juice was splashed up against the wall glowing strong while it was dead. About 10 seconds later it was still glowing and then she wiped it away and some was left on the wall and the stuff glowed like those plastic glow sticks you can buy.

That is my story.

When I was a kid, we would smush them on our hands to make them glow too 🙂

I have not seen a firefly in years though

There's a veritable horse's ass load of them in Alabama 🙂

Come hang out in my backyard at twilight....there are so many of them up in the trees it looks like someone strung those little white Christmas blinky lights all over the place. It's actually kind of cool in a semi-surreal way.

LOL! 😀

During the summer when I was younger I used to catch them and put them in a glass mason jar that had small holes so they could breathe. Almost made a minature lamp. Ah. Too be young again like that. LOL.

Driving down 840 here in TN during the summer, your car practically is attacked by fireflies. I had a swarm hit my windshield, the smeared off, but the glowing stuff stayed. It looked really cool at night, almost crashed because I was staring at my windshield instead of the road.

When I was little we used to smash them and write stuff on walls that glowed, there were tons in NJ for that. Try that one out tonight.

There arn't as many as there used to be when I was a kid here in Wisconsin, but I still see them around. Lots of fun when you are a kid.
