something to ponder

we all sit here arguing about cooling, cpus, overclocking etc etc....but what about the average joe>?
he goes out and buys a brand new cmoputer from dell, uses it for his gaming and living needs and is very happy.....

he never hasta format, change heatsinks, spend time on forums talkin to people about how to make it "better" or more efficient, never worries about cleaning it, and it usually runs a helluva long time

so the bottom line is--- r we doing all this 4 nothin?

My goal isn't to change the world, but to build my computers quiet and fast. If you'd rather buy a dell, by all means, go ahead.

Of course, joe average probably doesn't overclock or worry about how many Bungholiomarks he gets either.

For me, cooling is just a hobby. I'm not a gamer anymore, so I focussed my interest somewhere else, and that became cooling. I could work with a generic AMD cooler, but I have to spend my money somewhere... 🙂

I think a lot of people are paranoid about cooling because they built their computer and want it to work perfectly, and keeping your chip cool is a way to prevent instability. Of course, most chips are fine even in the 60 C range, but people just dont want to take the chance I guess.

Joe Average probably doesn't have the slightest clue as to what actually is inside that metal case he's got. He pushes the button, and the computer does stuff. If it doesn't work, he freaks out, tries to fix it, messes it up even worse, calls tech support, calls tech support again after being disconnected, gets to learn a foreign language without actually being able to explain what his PC problem is.......

Speaking of cooling and Dell computers.... does anyone know what temperatures the top of the line Dell, Gateway, Alienware, etc. computers run at? I know that in Dell's XPS gaming system, they have their own cooling system to keep the system quiet, but it would be interesting to know how hot thse systems run at. Maybe they get up to 60 C as well...
