I microwave mine 🙂 they sparkle for a moment if you put the printed side down!
 
Wow, I'm thinking of doing something similar! Only reason why I didn't do that is because I noticed when I put pressure on one side of the cd, it would flex (doesn't seem sturdy to me!)
