Something I've noticed in Back to the Future 2

Spoliers...

After Marty and Doc burn sports almanac, Doc is flying at least 80 feet in the air.

Lighting hits the delorean flipping it upside down while sending Doc to 1885.

Damaging the time circuits and flying circuits in the process.

How in the hell did he land without totaling the car or dying? Time travel in the series doesn't change your location in space either.

Obviously just an oversight by Gale and Zemeckis but still makes no sense.
 
The delorean was only about 30 feet and it landed in a giant hay bail. They were all over the place back then.

Lets ignore the whole time travel is impossible part and instead worry about how a time-traveling car landed from hovering. Yeah makes sense 😛

I'm just as bothered by the fact that one lightning bolt barely misses Doc, hits a nearby tree, and he doesn't IMMEDIATELY land the Delorean and get out until the damn storm blows over. Why even risk it.
 
How about when Einstein came back from the initial trial run in 1985 and the stainless steel Delorean was completely iced over to the point of it not being about to be touched, and yet that is the only time that incident occurs in the entire series despite the many trips through time.

Completely false, there are times during BttF2 when they have ice on the Delorean after temporal displacement. Even the end of the first movie, when Marty makes it back to 1985, there is ice on the time vehicle. Pay attention!
 
The bigger problem in BttF2 is their self created paradox. After old Biff breaks the world and they go back to alternate 1985 Doc explains to Marty that they cannot go forward because it would be the future of the alternate 1985. But apparently old Biff is immune to this as he can go back to 1955, screw with the world, then travel back to the original 2015 that he left from. By the movies own logic he should have wound up in alternate 2015 while Doc and Marty came back to the car in normal 2015 to find it missing and never to return.

In a deleted scene old biff fades away when he makes it back to 2015.

 
In BttF 1, the plan to send the Delorean back via lightning bolt hinges on the timing of the actual bolt, yet when the timer goes off inside the car when the engine is dead, it takes him what, a good 10 seconds to get it back rolling? Does that mean Doc's calcs were off? Or did the Delorean just accelerate faster than it was supposed to? This is completely disregarding the lightning bolt travelling down the wire like some magic spell, of course.

Aircraft are hit by lightning all the time. It only makes sense that if you're selling hovercars, some kind of failsafe system probably exists to land them in the event of a catastrophe. Maybe something as simple as airbags and/or emergency hoverboards.
 
Well I guess the next point should be in part 3. Doc Brown can build a flipping time machine and an ice maker in 1885 but he can't make a gallon of gas?
 
Its simple really, he was flying in a developed area when he was struck by lightning. in 1885 the ground hadn't been graded, so the ground was higher, possibly 80 feet higher. /thread

Also those pictures and newspapers would have been from an alternate timeline and thus would still be perfectly valid.

This is something else I couldn't figure out since gasoline was a byproduct of making kerosene which was being mass produced at the time.
