Something I've never seen

Just got a used Asus A7N8x Deluxe off this dude used and can't get it to post. Something I've never seen before is going on with it. I first tried all my stuff hooked up like I normally do with no post nor beeps. I tried clearing CMOS,removing battery, ect. Last thing I tried is taking everything out but ram, video and CPU. Now it posts but to a screen that says Award Bootblock or something. It tries to load AWDflash.exe but says something about it can't be found. I am assuming this has something to do with the BIOS since its trying to find AWDflash. Could the BIOS have gotten corrupted somehow?

Anyone know whats going on? He said it worked. Haven't got in touch with him yet.

Sounds like the BIOS chip is pooched. Could of happened if the power was cut off in the middle of a BIOS upgrade. You may have to contact the motherboard maker and get a new BIOS chip. Are they still socketed now? I remember I had to replace one on an old 486 Packard Bell when I got a Pentium overdrive CPU but that was many years ago.

Edit: Just looked at an image of the board and it doesn't look like it has a socketed chip so it's not user replaceable. You might be screwed if the BIOS chip is shot.

What kind of RAM are you using? You could try DL'ing AWDFLASH and the latest BIOS.... Put them onto a floppy and see if it flashes after you power on.

OCZ PC3200

I don't want to mess with it. I don't think he would have sent it dead and it not paid for. I think it got corrupted some how. I've heard a few stories about some rev2.0's BIOS going corrupted for no reason on amdmb forums.

they are socketed many people do hot swap flashes with these boards to recover bios's

I'll let him mess with it. I got it this way and I think I should send it back to him this way. I was just curious as to what it could be as I have never seen this screen before.
