Something is wrong with my NT4 machine

Whenever I run a ftp program I get access vialations and the program crashes.

I start the ftp program and everything seems fine I connect and everything is fine but when I switch the focus to another window the error comes up.... this happens with every ftp program I'v tried so I'm thinking this is a Windows issue.

application log has nothing

This is kinda strange. It happens always when I connect to the machine using vnc and often when I do something else.
