How sad is it that 8 years after EP.2 the first HL product is a re-release of Valve's 1st game, and the best part is Valve didn't even have to hire someone to do it.

Can they not just go on where they left of with the episodes from half life 2? :( I got it up to the last episode with those running three legged robots shooting spikes.

I don't get it, is this a paid version of the free mod that was released a couple years ago? Did they add Xen or does it still stop at Lambda Core?

That is the mod. It's just Valve wants those modders to be contributed for what they have done and I think those who made Black Mesa highly deserve this. The game is fantastic.

Im a bit confused myself. Did they finish it up, or is it still in the same state it was a few years back when they first released it?

so it's the same mod that used to be free and now I have to pay for it!? confusing but not very exciting, they also planed to release the last part for free and now it seems like the plans have changed.

No. Valve has nothing to do with this.

No. You can still download it for free.

But it's $19.99 on STEAM. And if EVER a "mod" deserved it, this is it.

Valve allowed them to use their engine, to clone their game and use their store/distribution platform, that's not "nothing to do",

yes you can download the old mod as released in 2012 (it would be impossible for them not to allow that anyway), but they are charging for updates and Xen, something which was planned to be free as the 2012 release, but OK, I really enjoyed the original mod, so I hope they do well... I just dislike the whole paid mods thing and the change of plan... I guess I'm from a different time, like when I bought HL1 15 years ago and I can still play CS, DoD and other amazing mods (with all the updates they received once they became standalone games, well the ones using the original engine that is) for free, being an Hl1 and Hl2 orange box owner I was happy to play this mod for free, but the guys that made it did and excellent job (I'm judging just by the original release, not this early access one) and they deserve the rewards, but also the whole $20 now and more later is also silly

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“We currently have the first ~85% of our single player campaign completed. For the last 15% we want to not only recreate it, but improve upon it to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience. We feel it will take us considerable time to get the last 15% up to our standards, and putting a time estimate on it would be a total guess.”

So it has already been in development for some time with no estimate on completion other than it will take "considerable time". It is Windows only, no Linux or OS X.

Yeah, I am going to pass on this one. When the final product is available, I might be interested. Until then, no thanks.

It is a full game just without the Xen levels which sucked and many agree with it.

This mod doesnt really do anything for me...I remember the original Half-Life looking like BF4. Looking at screenshots of the original game is disturbing.

I wondered why it had disappeared from my Library, guess I have to pay to play it now...

I'll pay when HL3 is almost here I think.

HL3 was confirmed to not even be in production by Newell. At this point I don't think it's ever happening.

I guess the existing HL games besides Black Mesa will have to do if I ever feel like playing them again. I normally play prior games in a series before a new one to have the story fresh in my memory. It's a shame if it never happens but it would just show that Valve only cares for money now.
