Black Mesa (HL reboot from a couple years back) is still one of the best FPS I've played in the last several years.

Apart from a few niggling issues (jumping puzzles/quirks, enemy soldier AI hitting you even when getting shot themselves), it showed that the original Half Life's formula is timeless.

I would LOVE to see more done with the new engine, with new areas and the old expansions brought out as well.

So its now an early access game..personally this is one mod(in recent years at least) that I think deserves to be paid for as I thought the quality was amazing!

Worth considering.

I feel like I would have to play the original (have it, never got very far back in the day) before dropping more money.

I didn't look into the discussions or anything, but I would hope they got further than they were 3 years ago.
