I'm a PC Tech and today I was troubleshooting this system that came in for blue screens while ripping DVDs.
I replaced the DVD drive with my own and it still occured.
I thought to myself what could be wrong. I changed the IDE cable and no luck there.
I then go and check on the CPU. What do I find? I find the CPU completedly smothered in some kind of heatsink paste.
I mean the entire CPU was covered along with all around the base of the CPU. I finally get the CPU cleaned and come to find out, the guy left the protective plastic that comes with the CPU and hooked everything up like that. The plastic was literally melted into the CPU. My co-worker was able to remove some of it with his nails. I believe the CPU won't ever be the same as there is still remnants of the plastic on the CPU along with remnants on the HSF. LOL. It was a sight to see, that's for sure.
