Something came to mind while watching Olympics.

This might sound racist but it is true. While watching Olympics I noticed no blacks in any swimming meets. Mainly whites and couple asians. Also, why no fast asians in track and fields?

Is this all due to genetics in the races? I know blacks can run and jump, why not swim in world level?

Just something I am curious about, what you guys think?

That is all.

It's more, a lot more about the environments and cultures.
Yes, if you don't wanna use your brain, you can just come up with a conclusion by following one simple fact and I see you're doing so. (Your dumb question reminds me of Hitler and howw he thought of the same thing as you and used the olympics to prove how German race was suprior)

You might as well consider to blame the music, movie,or whatever.

.. I don't think a lot of people in other countries have access to swimming pools as much as we do here in the U.S/Europe

Edited: Soccer is dominated from all parts of the world (n/m). Usually latin american countries win however. It's their culture and that is their main sport. U.S has a good team too, but the majority of the good teams are not white.

Look at basketball/football

just depends on where you live and grow up..

Its called, sticking a random bunch of young guns on a team and forcing them to play together at a high level of play with little practice together. Theres no chemistry, they had something like 2 weeks of prep, and most of the first choices for the team turned down the invites.

Because the team stinks. Zero team work. Too many egos on the team. and NO shooters.
they all have the mindless of trying to pound it inside except with zone defense notice when you barely go inside a good team already has 3-4 guys collapsing on you. Ideally you would kick out for a shot outside except we don't have any that can shoot.

When TIMMMAAAAYYY! has to take deep outside shots you know there's a problem.

Can't win'em all.

111-3 is still yet a pretty good record. :)

That is all.

Because black people have longer achilles tendon and of cultural a bunch of other factors. They are simply put better athletes due to those reasons and have more drive to do so.

Asians are coming along in Atheltics though. They are getting better but you need to be tall and have long limbs in sprints.

Black guys at altitude generally win middle and long distances because of where they live and altitude. They are born and raised with thinner air and this helps them out when they run races at lower altitudes. Also the other runners from lower altitudes suffer more at altitude.

As for asian swimmers they are doing very well at the Olympics. Swimming is more about efficency of technique and stamina. Seems that the Chinese and Japanese are training them very well.

Black people also have denser bones and this is not an attribute that helps a swimmer. And it isn't in 'black' culture to swim. Also swimming pools are NOT PROFITABLE at all. They are all run at a loss and are expensive to maintain.

Actually I think it's genetics that provide a lot of "red muscle" slow-twitch muscle tissue which provide for longer endurance over fast-twitch (white tissue). But altitude has a lot to do with it too.

WOW. Gold medal for China = Liu Xiang's in men 100m hurdles. First ever for China in track and field.

I thought culturally black people just dont like to swim. I bet if they got into it, they would be really good.

Not just for China. He is the FIRST EVER ASIAN male to ever win a medal (let alone gold) in Olympic short track. At the news conference, he said to reporters "Today I proved that people with yellow skin can run as fast as people with black and white skin". What a statement. I almost cried.

No, there is no genetical differences that makes anyone have any greater amount of either fast or slow twich muscle tissue, it is in training and diet, you could take one of them, feed them a bodybuilders bulk diet and have them train with heavy weights, short workouts with high intensity and they would have as much fast twitch as anyone else doing it.

Remember that the best bodybuilder of all times, Lee Haney, was black.

Altitude training is like blood doping, more red blood cells to bring the oxygen to the muscles will result in better endurance, there is no question if it works, it does.

Shhh, no honey, listen. Oxygen levels in blood play a major roll in maintaining prolonged activity while preventing the onset of muscular lactic fatigue, but in the department of overall stamina when dealing with two different types of muscular activity, slow and fast twitch muscles come into play a more major roll. And the percentage of slow and fast twitch muscle IS attributed to genetics.

A nice read for you.

Article
Human muscles contain a genetically determined mixture of both slow and fast fiber type. On average, we have about 50% slow and 50% fast fibers in most of the muscles used for movement...

... The genetic component of muscle fiber type can not be overlooked when it comes to performance. Olympic athletes tend to be genetically blessed with large variations in fast and slow twitch fibers that perfectly suit their sport. Olympic sprinters have been shown to possess about 80% fast twitch fibers while those who excel in the marathon may have 80% slow twitch fibers...

But by no means are you wrong about altitude training effecting performance, you're just over-estimating it.
