SOmes...i feel that AMD should hire professional hitman to silence some computer sales man...

I was at a local FUtureshop (the equivalent of Best buy) and overheard this conversation:

If you've never heard of AMd processors its alright, look at this HP pc featuring intel's dual core processor. With the hyper threading technology, it gives your PC the power of 4 P4 processor. Basically you are having a 4X 2.4 Ghz pc. Many servers don't even have that amount of processing power but with this PC, you do.

Well, average Joe consumer who doesn't necessarily know a lot about computers asks another person who may not know a lot about computers for recommendations and you get this. I bought a laptop at a Best Buy in San Jose and the guy was pretty hands off and knew his sh1t.

Wasserkool, what store? I work at store 70 (Burlington). I can tell you that many of our "Product Experts", the ones that make comission, are RETARDS. TOTAL RETARDS. However, when we got the new 4800+ Athlon 64 bit dual-core in stock, there were a few of the guys drooling over it.

Two guys at my store bring in 1mil+ each in computer sales per year.

Oh, and Wasserkool? I have a feeling you were looking at the HP Photosmart Media Center edition PC wern't you?

It's an interesting trend

The hands off guys will probably know more because they've learned plenty and are disgrunted with Best Buy's policies. So they don't care if Best Buy gets fscked

The hands on guys won't know $hit or have sold their souls to Best Buy DESPITE knowing their stuff. In either case, it's lose-lose.

I still can't believe that he said a dual-core is like FOUR processors. How much was the computer? $3k? Did it have 128MB of ram? 😛

I thought the Pentium Extreme Edition was the only dual-core Pentium with HT, and that there were only 2.8 - 3.2 GHz versions. 😕

See, to them, even if they know it's wrong, they'll do whatever it takes to sell it, and honestly, nothing wrong with it in most cases.

If you do not research product purchases chances are you will get ripped off, same as most other industries.

San Jo' Represent!

Unfortunately this is what you get for the most part. The management at these places is mainly responsible for the ridiculous salespeople they have working there. They will push out someone who knows what they're talking about for someone who will flat out lie & make more sales. My job was threatened for 3 months on a regular basis, because my sales were "inconsistent" or I wasn't selling enough extended warranties, although my monthly sales were upwards & over $50k a month ON AVERAGE.

Signed,
a recently fired CompUsa Business Sales Rep

PS. do yourself a favor & research this stuff online & find a good deal through the Web. These places are getting rich via ignorant & lazy consumers, and they're abusing good young people to force them to basically steal your money.
