This is Pissing mr off so bad.

Whenever some one uses the micrwave, the signal strength on my LinkSys 54g stuff goes down to almost Zero, and the SPeed goes down to 1mbs. I've tried all the different channels for the netwrok, and it doesn't help.

It really starting to get on my nerves, like ealier today, i was defrosting something and it was gonna take like 30min, and it was screwing up a download i had goin.

I reall, really want to know if there is anyway to fix this.

Thanks,
~new

you might also try adjusting the antenna(s) on your wireless access point/router to point in a different direction. that may help overcome some of the interference.

edit: are you using G mode while this happens? If so, try using just B mode and see if it works any better. G mode if i remember correctly uses 2 channels simultaneously, thus doubling the interference (noise) from the microwave.

I have the same problem, but thankfully the signal doesn't cut out completely. It does munge some of the in-transit packets though.

have the microwave inspected, or try a different one... if very much could be leaking microwaves beyond the norm...

If you can't clean up the 2.4Ghz "Noise" in your area, you could always switch to 802.11a ( 5Ghz ), but that's an $$$ option. Something to consider if you just can'l live without wireless though.

Even if i had the $$$ to go to 802a i might not want to, i've heard it has limited range and requires the use of repeaters, as my Comp is on the opposit corner 2 floors away from our router that could get mighty pricy.

Yeah right now its only for one comp, but we are going to be adding more soon, however,
the Linksys Router has 2 antena ports i was thinking possibly a Bi-Direc on one and an omni-direc on the other?
