Someone took our space

So a friend and I were going to see a movie (in Daly City, CA if you know where that is) and there was a pretty big crowd in the parking structure. We saw a couple leaving from the elevator and followed them to their car. (it was maybe 30 feet away). My friend began signalling as the couple started to get into their car. The cars behind us started to pass us (she had move over to one side). All of a sudden one of the cars that passed us stops (in the opposite lane of traffic) blocking the entire section.

I'm wondering .. wtf is he doing? When the guy in the space reverses out ... he does the unthinkable. He reverses into our space. Because of the way the guy in the space reverses we can't do anything about it. My friend started honking as soon as he did that ... and I got out of the car and starting telling him (calmly) "Sir .. .that was an incredibly rude thing to do ... my friend and I were waiting for that space" he says "what ... there's no line for a space" (we were sitting in front of it signalling for that space) .. he then said "I know those people ... I had an arrangement" (unlikely because we saw them get out of the elevator).

I continue to stand there thinking of what to do (fighting was not an option because he was definitely bigger than me as well as looking like a thug). He looked at me again ... then starts reaching into his car and his glove compartment. I thought to myself .... this guy really might have a gun (remember a few months ago someone got shot in SF because he argued with a guy who bumped into his car). I got into our car and drove away (btw ... 2 floors up the entire structure was free ... so this guy didn't have to take our space). So ... what would you guys have done? What can I do about it now? (I got his license plate number ... I considered keying his car but thought of the Pulp Fiction quote).

Cliffnotes:
Waiting for a space (signal is on) guy goes around our car and reverses in. I try to argue with him but he ignores me. What are my options.

Century 20's awesome. But I like to go there during the day only. Too many wannabe punks there at night.

You did the right thing by walking away. Ain't like you got a AK-47 in your trunk you can pull out and make a bunch of new holes on the asshole.

Slash his damn tires, teach him to act civilized next time he tries to dick over someone like that, I can't STAND people who steal spots because at my school parking is impossible at peak hours, and while it hasn't happened to me I see it allllll the time and can just shake my head and pray they get theirs one day.

The guy doesn't have a gun in his glove box. But you could call've called the cops and tell them somebody tried you threaten you w/ a gun. Just do it anonymously.

Let the air out of his tires while he is gone by putting small rocks under the valve stem covers. No real harm done , but he is certainly inconvenienced for his ignorant practices. BTW , leave a note(NOT telling him you only let out the air) to let him know why he has four flat tires so he gets the picture. People have no scruples anymore.

Yeah there are a lot of asshats in SF lately. Century 20 in Daly City near the BART station has become haven for thugs specially at night. Good thing you walked awayand the incident didn't escalate.

Last xmas same thing happened to me at the Stonestown galleria and the lot was full. Good thing parking security saw the entire incident and he let me park at a reserved parking space. I was seriously thinking about leaving a good sized foot impression on his door but the lot was crowded... next time he might not be so lucky.

LOL you must have a beater car,

I park a ways from everyone, and walk further,
even when I drive my beater van;I do not park near the buiding.

Plus a little walking won't hurt me. 😉

He has a beater because he likes to park near the door? 🙂

Anyway keying is overboard. I think letting air out of tires is good, but it takes a long time.

if u are in a good mood.. chewed gum (bubble gum preferably) under the handle works pretty well.

if u are in a bad mood... time to sharpen those keys hehehe...

wtf.. why did u run?

i would have waited to see why he pulled out from his glove box..
