I know how you feel, sux!
June 1991 : Stolen:
Alpine 7390
Boston Acoustic pro series seperates (2 pair)
Linear 220 amp (two of 'em)
Punch 45 amp
1 audio control 4 way xover
2 Punch 12" in black formica custom box
Pair of Grey velour/black leather Recaro seats :)( I was crying)
1 Brand new momo special edition steering wheel
My GTA rims :( boo-hoo
Come to find out, it was someone I knew, they tried selling on of my amps to my best friend who instantly recognized it.
I really did not do anything, this guy was "big" and a local gangster type, I did not want the "home invasion" scenario.
What ended up happening was, this guy went on a "coke snorting binge" and they found him dead out by ballfield. haha, die beotch!

My suggestion is to beat your friend relentlessly until he coughs up some cash. Seriously. I would ask for at least half of what all that stuff was worth. Your friend is a real idiot, and inconsiderate at that. It's your car and you're nice enough to lend it out, and this is what happens?

At least half the value is what I'd ask for. Otherwise, you're pretty much SOL unless you can prove it was that kid and have the cops take him away, so he can't do anything to you or your family members' stuff (well, even if he did, then you call the cops again).

I only had a crappy cassette player taken out of my car in high school, and I was so pissed off. My car was actually broken into, but if someone had left my door unlocked, there'd be hell to pay.

Good luck!

I know I had two cars biusted into

First one they nailed the stereo AND MY $300 dollar SHOES!!!:Q (don't ask) They also took my Suit! Are they my SIZE!

Then when we moved they jacked the stereo out of my Toyota Truck, I replaced it and then they stole the whole truck!:Q

That sucks but I have little sympathy. I hate it when people blast bass music massivly out of their cars. Since they can hear it fien at a normal volume or loud one why do they need to blast the bass. Well because they they think it's cool and they want to look better than others and get stuff and make other people feel bad. Sometimes thats true but usually they just annoy or piss off people.

I say replace it with a normal system and leave the ghetto act.

Head Unit - $230
48 CDs(5 a piece) - $240
Power Acoustik Shappire 820 - $199
(2)Polk GNX 12" Subs - $250
Box - $50

Total - $969

Value of car(assuming 93,000 miles with automatic) - $1000

Why in the world would spend nearly as much on a sound system that the car is worth...

It's not like this was put together all in one day. I've just been putting piece by piece of the system in and it was almost near done. All I would have had to do is replace the rear 6x9s and I would have been done. Oh yeah... I priced it out to be close to $1,300 if you include the front and rear deck speakers that are luckily still there. When I think about it, that's what I originally paid for my car 2 years ago. For dually, bro... I'll tell you what... you could pull any CD out of your collection and wonder if you were seeing it live right in front of you. My DMB Listener Supported CD was probably the best CD with "bass" in it that surprised people to know it wasn't rap they were hearing. I'm a musician, I have my standards for the way I want to hear my music.

I feel sorry for you and I'm sorry that your stuff got stolen but if you "feel lost without the stuff" that was in your car, you have more important things to deal with than the theft of your property.

<< Mossberg is your friend >>

Mossberg? We talking code here? Xaigi, wouldn't you feel lost if someone stole something you used on a daily basis? I mean come on, first thing I do after starting my car is turning on my CD player and my radar detector. $hit... they stole my radar detector too.

Actually, $385 was just the locks.
And the dude did a piss poor job of it too. He replaced the two front door locks and the ignition. Didn't even touch the trunk (which was included in the kit that he charged me $385 for). Not to mention the fact that he kept all the parts (old ignition which was only ~1 year old, door locks, and new trunk lock). He took three days to do it, and I finaly went there and told him that I would finish the job. Had him write up a bill and I paid him, sans labor. Took me 30 minutes and two beers to put the car back together.

Lesson? Don't let people you know work on your car, it never works.

<< Flippin... $385 doesn't sound bad for 2 doors if they did a good job on them. I just got back from Collex Collision and they want $300 to bend the tabs back, put a support plate in, put the lock in, and paint it. My dad seems to have a trick up his sleeve, so we'll see what happens. >>

Friday- I take my 99 Ninja ZX-9r to the shop for new dunlops and a jet kit to tune for the full muzzy exhaust. Write the shop a check for about 500 and pick up my bike after work.

Saturday - Take the bike out to scuff the new rubber a bit, it runs stronger than ever, pulls up a second gear power wheelie with no effort. Take it home and detail the whole bike, including the polished rims, which takes me about 3 hours.

Sunday - Walk outside to meet my friends for a Sunday ride but my bike is no longer. I am in shock, I lived in a gated community.

2 weeks later they find the bike in Tampa, with 1500 more miles on it, cracked windshield, scuffed fairings, broken seat and ignition, flat tire. My gloves, maps, tool kit is all missing from under the seat, just the scumbags toothbrush and a philly blunt are in there.

I think saudi arabia has the right idea when it comes to thieves.

<< screw the kid.. just becuase he's been in trouble before doesnt make it right... he messed up your car.. report him. Call the police, contanct your insurance. Nail that kid, if it is him.. He needs to learn his lesson or he'll just keep getting in trouble. >>

Its tough. If you KNOW he did it, you could be right, but "Its him, because I know he stole it!" isn't going to hold water in court of law. He's innocent until proven guilty with solid evidence or enough circumstancial evidence.

I have an Aiwa head unit. I hope they realize it's crap and just stay away (and yes, I do take my faceplate with me now, learned the hard way and lost a Pioneer DEH-P7200).

Ditto! And I thought I was the only person who did this! I have only CDRs with the cheap, skinny cases in my truck. All the "originals" are in the house.

I'm very sorry to hear your system got jacked. Have you checked the local pawn shops to see if your stuff is there? 9 times out of 10, when some punk crackhead kid steals it, he looks to unload it quick, so he can go buy drugs. Pawn shops have no moral quandry about buying stolen goods. Electronics are essentially untraceable anyway, and the stuff never sits long, so they'll unload it quickly too.

Good luck in the future.

wtf kinda response is this? u don't need alot of things to live but you have it anyway

thieves suck, my friend's system got jacked too, but insurance covered his, so ymmv
>>

dude, i did say thieves suck... i just offered an alternative....

oh yeah someone mentioned cdr, that's pretty cool too.

you do have a good point, if you want expensive equipment, seek out good insurance that would cover it.

also depending on where you live i guess....

in ****** ****, NV people don't lock their doors (cars or house)

that really sucks...

IF you KNOW that the kid did it, then report him or confront him (if you think you could do that without anyone getting hurt). He has to learn that stealing is not a good idea.

You know what? After my best friend had his car stolen last year, I made the wisecrack of burning all my CDs and keeping the burnt ones in my car. Well... I got lazy, never did it, and now look what happens. I've decided from now on, it's only burnt CDs for my car. My dad talked with AAA who does both our home owner's insurance and car insurance and they told him they could only replace 2 CDs! That's bullshit. We've got to find out policy, but a manager at my work said that most home owner's insurance covers anything in the car that isn't bolted down. If I can find that in policy... hello new subs, amp, and CDs. Too bad the CD player was "bolted" (aka screwed) into the dashboard. Oh well... looks like I go back to my good old factory stereo for now.
